Hi, am after some help in finding a inspiring quote for a work colleague.

She is the leading figure in our workplace, very competitive, and is upset that she recently missed out on a managerial position to another girl, especially due to the fact that she has been with the company for over a decade longer.

The way I see it, she is still the leading figure and she should be happy that the other girl has got the opportunity to improve.

I tried to tell her that she doesn’t always have to win and that sometimes its better to let someone else have a chance.

So just wondering if there are any inspiring quotes anyone knows that will sum things up well and let her cherish what she does have, and not to find fault in what she doesn’t.

    Kind regards,

    J.

    Dear J:

You wrote that the way you see it is that she SHOULD be happy… if she is upset and you think she SHOULD be HAPPY and you want to convey to her that what she is feeling is the WRONG feeling, you better not find a quote to that affect. Don’t tell her or anyone else, including yourself how he or she or you SHOULD be feeling. People feel what they feel. Don’t tell anyone their feelings are wrong or unacceptable.

An alternative to an inspiring quote would be a ‘shit happens’ perspective.
