I am starting day 1 of recovering from alcoholism.  I’m not sure how I’m going to do this. The guilt from things I’ve done, people I’ve hurt makes it so hard to stop drinking. But I have to stop, I have the string feeling that if I dont,, I won’t get another chance.

    Dear  Christina:

I wish you well on your day 1 and  every day after. The guilt you mentioned, I hope you don’t allow it to stand in your way of abstaining from alcohol. There are  ways  to  reduce your distress (over the guilt and otherwise) other than drinking alcohol, such as taking long walks  outside, other types of exercise, relaxing yoga and such.

Do post anytime you’d like, on your first  day, second, and on. I would be here to reply  to you. Hopefully, other members will as  well.

    Hi Christina,

We all feel guilty for things we’ve done and people we’ve hurt. Every single one of us. Right now I can think of several situations I wish I’d handled differently. It’s part of being human.

Don’t let the bad thoughts win.

    You go girl! 🙂

    Hello Christina,

How are things going?  I hope you are doing okay.  I hope you find a way to reconcile your guilt and forgive yourself because we are all human.  We all make mistakes and do things that hurt people, whether it’s intentional or not.

Focus on you for now, and take good care of yourself.

    Airene
