The great thing about having no-thing is that it contains all things.

“Always we begin again.” – St Benedict

The realty of each breath is that it is a moment of both a death and rebirth.  With each breath we empty ourselves and start again.

“The Rule teaches that if we take control of our lives, if we are intentional and careful in how we spend the hours of each irreplaceable day, if we discipline ourselves to live in a balanced and thankful way, we will create from our experiences, whatever they may be, the best possible life. ”  John McQuiston – Always We Begin Again

The unexpected is always upon us. And of all the gifts arrayed before me, this one thought at this moment in my life is the most precious.  And so, we begin again. – Feast of Love

    One day at a time.

A job, any job. If it’s a crummy job, work at it for six months or a year and then get a better job.

Go back to school, get your high school degree or take classes at a community college or nearby state four-year school (there are scholarships and the tuition is lower), preferably a traditional class rather than online.

Connect with nature, walking, hiking, collecting/identifying plants, volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary.

Pay attention to sunsets and evening stars.

Journal or doodle, go to a museum, grab a cup of coffee or tea at a Barnes and Noble or your local bookstore.

Don’t keep up. Be out of step. Step away from Facebook and face yourself and our bittersweet world.

    Be kind.

Don’t be afraid, your little boat is seaworthy.
