    Dear Anita,

From all the sources I’ve read, life purpose is what I ultimately want to do in life. Peace can come. I’m sure peace will come. But I want to inspire people. I want them to look at me and be inspired by what I do and change lives into better. This is what I want to do. It’s not just living from day to day with a 9 to 5 job wanting to kill myself because I’m not doing what I want. I want peace of mind, tranquility as well as a good life. That means not doing 9 to 5. I want to be paid doing my thing. This is what I think life purpose is.

    Dear bloo64:

This is where your misunderstanding about Life Purpose is, I believe. It is a common misunderstanding that brings distress and misery to a lot of people.

You wrote that your life purpose is to inspire people, to change their lives for the better, to be paid for doing your thing, not for a 9 to 5 job: there are celebrities that accomplished just that, known to many millions of people, who have inspired many millions of people, paid very well, more money than they can ever use.

How can it possibly be that even one of those celebrities can be unhappy, to the point of ending their lives. How can it be?

    Dear Anita,

This is where meditation is comming into place. And enlightment. To do the things that I want while being constantly aware and at peace not caring about what other people think about me and what I do.

But honestly now, I would kill myself if I had to work on a 9-5 for a very long time without doing anything that I enjoy in life.

    Dear bloo64:

You feel very strongly about not working 9 to 5, especially for a long time. So I hope you don’t. I hope you don’t work 9 to 5.

You have a strong desire to be a creative artist, musician- that will not be a 9 to 5 job. Until and if that happens, there are other ways you can earn money not working 9 to 5, unconventional jobs that you can do.

I believe I know how strong your desire is to be a famous musician- I had a similar desire myself. And I am assuming you imagine that if only you were successful and famous, or on your way to being successful and famous, that then… you’d be happy.

There is no way to test it at this point, that is for you to find yourself and check: how do I feel now.

There is no downside for you finding your mental health, mental well being now. It can only help you in expressing your creativity and finding financial success and even fame.

Mental well being now cannot hurt you. It can only help you. There is no downside to it.

Mental well being means you won’t be thinking the same old, same old thoughts again and again. It means you will have the peace of mind you need to find a non 9 to 5 job; the peace of mind you need to have the patience and endurance to practice and improve your guitar playing. Peace of mind will make it more likely for you to have good relationships.

There is simply no down side.

Will soon be away from the computer for a few hours. Let me know if and where you want to go from here. We can examine the thoughts you listed and the questions at the end of your post with the thoughts. Would you like to do that?

Will read your thoughts when I am back.

I might be asleep by then. If so I will be back tomorrow.
But there is a possibility I will be playing video games.

    Dear bloo64:

Hope you are sleeping well and if you are playing, hope you are enjoying the game. What games do you enjoy most?

As to the thoughts you listed, we can examine any one or two at any time, no rush. Here are a couple:

“– Is this not what I want to do ?
    – If not then why aren’t I able to have a definete NO answer ?”

By “it” you referred to the guitar, I think. If you think that you are supposed to want to do ONE thing for the rest of your life, one thing- the guitar- and invest everything in it, then that is a lot of pressure you are putting on yourself. It is as if you are placing on yourself the 9-5 job-kind-of pressure that you hate.

It doesn’t have to be this one thing. You may want to play now but remain flexible. It is okay to change your mind. It doesn’t need to be this one thing for the rest of your life. It can be this today and something else tomorrow.

Thinking these thoughts show me you are unreasonably demanding of yourself and that is counter productive because it creates distress that is unnecessary and harmful for you.

    Your thoughts?
