I had a dream a few nights ago, in which I was in my meditation room, trying to open my third eye or my crown chakra. Prior to bed, I was meditating down in my meditation room and I was trying to figure out how to develop claircognizance/activate the crown chakra. I was thinking about it a lot and have been fascinated with trying to develop my psychic senses.
I felt like I had several dreams that night, woke up several times from these dreams, and they were all essentially the same dream (other details occurred that I don’t remember); as I mentioned, I was in my meditation room trying to open my third eye or crown chakra, and in the last dream I remember was very vivid and I not only saw purple, but felt an intense pressure in my forehead. It seems like I remember seeing something like a purple lotus flower before waking up feeling that intense pressure in my head and seeing purple for a second. This happened waking up from every dream. Is this just a result of me focusing so much on trying to develop claircognizance that night (it was difficult to tell whether I was trying to develop that or open the third eye in my dream)? Or is there something else to it, like my third eye or crown chakra was actually trying to activate? I’m certain my third eye isn’t open nor my crown chakra, as I haven’t experienced really any of the signs or symptoms that would be associated with these. The pressure in my head was so much more intense than when I feel it during my meditations. There was no pain or headache, just intense pressure in the dream and upon waking up.

“I was in my meditation room trying to open my third eye or crown chakra, and in the last dream… I remember seeing something like a purple lotus flower before waking up feeling that intense pressure in my head… This happened waking up from every dream. Is this just a result of me focusing so much on trying to develop claircognizance that night“-
– from learning minds: “The word clairvoyance is taken from the French word ‘clair’ meaning clear and ‘voyance’ meaning vision. A clairvoyant, therefore, is someone who is believed to see information about a person, an object, a location, or an event through psychic means”.
“.. Or is there something else to it, like my third eye or crown chakra was actually trying to activate?… The pressure in my head was so much more intense than when I feel it during my meditations. There was no pain or headache, just intense pressure in the dream and upon waking up“-
– it could be both (not one or the other): “focusing so much on trying to develop claircognizance that night” and your “third eye or crown chakra was actually trying to activate“. Bottom line, you are motivated to open your third eye and to activate your crown chakra further and farther, right?
“I’m certain my third eye isn’t open nor my crown chakra, as I haven’t experienced really any of the signs or symptoms that would be associated with these“- putting the signs and symptoms aside for a moment, did you not see more into reality (ex., to see people’s motivations behind their words and actions), and understand more (ex., to realize things you did not realize before.. those aha moments and otherwise) since you’ve been motivated to see and understand more?

Prior to this you actually were in your meditation room thinking about how to open your third eye. Cause and effect?? You wanted something and so dreamed about it? Wanting it so much and thinking hard about it, this seems to have brought about this bout of dreams.
Question, how is the meditation? Are you in your thoughts? Or are you sitting aware and in silence. Some people have a misunderstanding. They believe that meditation is letting their thoughts flow. Some even believe that they must silence their thoughts. Neither is right. Buddha having heard the fisherman say that holding on too tight the fish will escape and holding too loose the fish will escape. It was then he discovered the middle way. One must not hold thoughts off and one must not let thoughts flow. It is in the middle where concentration holds the attention. Thoughts may flow but one is not carried away. One has silence but not held by force.
Having intentions of opening chakras is not a problem but the desire comes to act on its own upon the person having the desires. And, so, the dreams and the intense feeling upon the brain. Some Zen practice called hou tou is intense and can produce similar effects. There are Koans. Like, What is the meaning of “MU”? Constant thinking and questioning, the mind is absolutely absorbed in MU. Or, what is the sound of one hand clap? Then totally absorbed to find an answer, suddenly a burst and the mind sees a glimpse of the truth of the nature of ourselves. Sometimes no mind is opened and sometimes it works. It all depends upon the person.
I would encourage you to find a teacher who can actually help you. And a Sangha that can bring about the effort you need to go forward. Good Luck.
