Dear Sir/mam,
I have a lot of negative destructive thoughts(Eg: watching porn, HOCD, smoking, procrastination etc). They were an outcome of me being in a destructive addictive environment. I m currently fighting them. I believe that one day i will get over them completely and be a completely new man. However I read an article which stated that your negative thoughts get transferred to your offspring through your genes. Is this true? If yes, how can i prevent my destructive thoughts from getting passed on?.
The question may sound weird and stupid and childish but i m worried that my past will affect my offspring. Please help me. Your answer will be a great moral boost for me in my fight against these thoughts and be a completely new man.
About me: I am 24 years old and single
Waiting for your response. Thanks in advance.

The example you set for your children by your actions and guidance is more important than genes !!
GOD bless !!!

Well, there is genetic memory. If you went through a famine, your descendants will tend to be overweight. If you went through a war, your descendants will be more anxious. My mother’s father passed away while she was carrying me. YES, I totally received her grief hormones or received her altered body chemistry.
Then there is past life things. Don’t be surprised if your children take after you. That said, don’t be surprised if they don’t! They are different people, after all.
Clean up your mental and habitual act and don’t worry so much about it.
Best,
Inky

If my biology degree is worth anything (the education behind it) then my answer may be valid: no, your negative thoughts can not pass on by your genes, no way.Your negative thoughts will pass on to your children in other ways and become just as destructive to them as if they were passed on genetically.
So, although you are not likely to ever be a person completely free of negative thoughts, I hope that you will not have children until you have been able, for a good while, to effectively manage your negative thoughts and addictions via insight and skills and practice, practice, practice.

On a different note I recommend reading pastor Rick Warrens books ” The purpose driven life” I am not in no way into much of Jesus more of a spiritual person but the book is really good and only talks about why you’re on earth for . Just a recommendation if anyone needs a good book to read !
