Hello, I was wondering if anyone could explain what this ‘coincidence’ or better said sychronicity is about.

I experienced this thing twice!: on my way to work I see a stranger that catches my eye a bit, nothing special. And after a whole day of work, going back home I see this person again! on the same day. So weird hhaha…

Can anyone explain? Or experienced the same thing?

    Dear Mayooon:

A definition of “coincidence”: A sequence of events that although accidental seems to have been planned or arranged

A definition of “synchronicity”: the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.

Seeing the same stranger twice, as you described, reads to me like both a coincidence and a synchronicity: a random occurrence, that although may seem planned or arranged (by a god, perhaps, or some entity of the like), is not or was not planned or arranged. No “causal connection” means nothing and no one caused this occurrence of seeing him twice on the same day. It just so happened, no different than coin flipping and it landing twice on the same side.

A similar incidence- however happened on back-to-back days… I saw a couple who were actually standing in a street obstructing traffic as they were photographing something and then much later that day saw the same couple (some 8-9 he’s later) walking g into a grocery store in front of me –  next day, couldn’t happen. the notice a lady at a jewelry counter purchasing jewelry as I was ne t in line – later that day (5+ hrs later) saw her walking into a bookstore in front of me.  i believe in synchronicity, so was looking for a meaning, if any!
