The following is my truth. To my loved ones I am a stroke survivor and a disabled woman but I am so much more. A person full of hopes, dreams, goals and opinions. This leg of the journey began when one month before my 30th birthday I suffered a major stroke. In the after math I was left with locked-in syndrome,a condition where the patient is completely immobilized, and unable to talk. After working with many therapists I now have some movement and some are beginning to understand my words. This was typed on an iPad with a lot of effort but these days I’m so grateful for any movement at all.
It has been a long and difficult journey. One that has seen many tears and, thanks to uncontrolled emotions, just as many laughs. Along the path I have discovered many beautiful things, both about myself and my environment. All of which I wish to share with my loved but am unable to form the words. This journey is not over but I’ve learned to open up my heart and take in the sights.

    Dear dianacb:

What an unusual post! Thank you for sharing your ongoing recovery story here. Please share more anytime you are able. Share about how you felt at any time during the ordeal and recovery, how you feel now, what thoughts have gone through your mind when immobilized, and what thoughts are going through you now? What are your dreams and hopes?

Best wishes to you, more and more recovery and looking forward to another post by you.

    Dear dianacb:

You wrote: “Along the path I have discovered many beautiful things, both about myself and my environment.” I would very much like to read what you discovered about yourself and about others/ the environment.

Hope you are having a good Sunday
