    Hello everyone,

So, basically I met this guy last October, he was travelling and I had just moved to a new city in a new country where he was passing through. So we met here, had a connection, he was only here for three days. When he left we kept in contact, and he came back to a city nearby about three weeks later and we met again – but again verrry short, we just had one day and one night.

He finished travelling and returned home. I’m still in my (now not so new) city, which is quite far from my home. He is on another continent. In September, I will be going home and will still be on a different continent to him.

And so, of course logistically I completely understand that it just doesn’t make sense to keep in contact with someone who is so far away. However, after he left the second time, I tried to reach out a couple of times but he was very distant and did not want to keep in contact. I realize that this is really starting to sound ridiculous, it’s just difficult to understand. It is not common for me to have this level of connection with somebody. It was like meeting a best friend. I don’t think it was naive; but I guess I can’t really know either way.

It just seems to me that the world can feel so small nowadays, it’s so effortless to casually keep in contact with people, and where he lives is somewhere I will definitely be within the next two years.

So I’m here because of course I don’t want to still be hung up on somebody who has moved past me. I respect that he doesn’t want any form of contact, but I still think of him quite a bit and he has been cropping up in my dreams lately.

I’ve really thrown myself into life in my new city, have met incredible people and I’m very open to potential romantic connections, I just haven’t met anyone yet.

So any advice you lovely folks can give would be very appreciated. Thank you and happy monday!

    Dear Lucy Hammock:

Happy Monday to you too. If he is not interested in further contact, what can you do- it takes two.

Having re-read your thread of 2014, you wrote then that you did not have by that point a romantic relationship. Did you have one since, beyond the few days with this guy you wrote about here?

    Hi Anita,

Ya totally, thanks for that. Yes, sort of unrelated, I dated one guy for about six months and was quite sad when we split but it was very mutual and we’ve remained friends, and dated another guy for three months and there just weren’t really deep feelings there.

    Dear Lucy Hammock:

So you did have relationships since your first thread, and remained friends with one- congratulations. I hope, through the practice that you had, that you are more relaxed with a man, able to not worry as much about possible rejection.
