Last few months life has (well life’s events) really dampened my mood to the point hush I’m just numb most days. I’m into the first year of my first home and the bills are piling up and my wife lost her job a few months back and everything has been on me. It’s stressful beyond belief. To add insult to injury my engine in my car blew a few days ago. Does it end? I’m behind on tons of bills with no end in sight. Trying to pick up another job to catch up but of course to no avail. Just numb

    Dear Shemar:

“stressful beyond belief… just numb”- overwhelmed is my word to describe what happens before a person goes numb, stress overwhelming the brain, so it shuts down some of its functions and that numbness follows.

To lower your stress level imagine the worst scenario that you fear: would it be losing your home? Prepare to what you would practically do if that was to happen and relax best you can as you think and imagine this possibility. Do so repeatedly. Then do the practical things that need to be done, one thing at a time, trying to look at just what is in front of you, not too far into the future.
