Trying to cope and deal with staying in this shit hole of a corporate apartment. Sorry but it’s true… Freaking bugs all the time in this place. The carpets are ratchet, the air doesn’t run well. This Russian girl who I have to share this apartment with, has a phobia of the dark and leaves the lights on, all day and all night

I then turn them all off before going to sleep and then I’ll wake up in the morning to find that she has all the lights blasting everywhere in the apartment yet again and again every damn day. When I arrived here, I
Could tell her energy was really bad. It’s whatever but this apartment is so gross!! Wish I could stay somewhere else but I can’t. Been dealing and staying in this shithole of a place for the past 3 years now. I’m just over it.

That does sound frustrating! Would you be able to try and spend as much time as possible somewhere else? To not have to deal with everything about the apartment. It doesn’t sound too temporary if it’s been the last three years and that seems incredibly frustrating. I’d definitely try talking to someone and see if it can get changed. Maybe try telling them your job performance would be improved if the quality of life living in the apartment was different. ( I guess I’m assuming it’s for work by the use of “corporate” in your first post)

Is there any way to kinda separate off an area that’s “yours”? Maybe hang a dividing curtain and set up some things that make YOU comfortable and happy? (Candles, incense, etc). They even make room darkening drapes that would allow you to control the lighting in your area. I know if it’s not YOUR place you may not have much leeway as far as furnishings or hanging things but it’s a thought.

Amde20 – It’s never been this way and my boss relies on me to tell him anything strange that goes on in this apartment. When I arrived here a week ago, she was a new person staying here and not a veteran like myself to this apartment. I compromised with her and was very nice about making sure all the vents were closed throughout the apartment, except for mine. It’s a 2 story apartment, so the thermostat only reads the temperature downstairs and not the temperature upstairs. Heat rises up here on the top half where the bedrooms are at and this building was built in the 70’s so the walls are rather old. Anyway, I made sure all the vents were shut except mine, turned the air on and went upstairs to my room to nap. As soon as I go upstairs to sleep, she comes knocking on my door to complain that she’s cold, meanwhile the girl is a size 00 and only wearing a t-shirt and underwear around the house. It’s like Gee… Maybe you should put on some more clothes so you’re not so cold all the time. I told her that she needs to understand how hot it gets in this room. So from 1pm – 5am the next day – She kept turning the air up behind my back 3 times. I gave her plenty of chances to where I finally told my boss on her the next day. Never in the last almost 4 years have I ever had to do that to any of the occupants staying here and it upset me that I had just returned and here I have to tell my boss that there’s a problem here. This woman is 36 years old behaving this way, being hostile towards me and the other person I have to share a bedroom and apartment with. The other girl I share a bedroom with told me that before I had arrived, she was sweating up in the bedroom and she would go downstairs to turn the cool air on and then the next minute she turns around and goes upstairs, the Russian girl would switch the heat on. So with all that being said, I had to make sure to tell my boss right away, before this situation escalated, as I hate the drama in the place I have to sleep in and call home the next 2 months. This Russian woman is 36 years old and has a terrible phobia of the dark and the a/c not to mention she isn’t very nice and friendly like me and my other roomie. I understand she needs professional help and all but when I come home from work, it is very vital that I am able to sleep comfortably. My boss is the one who asked me to fly all the way out here to help out his company bc they were in dire need of my help. Which for me, is not a problem. My job isn’t the problem at all, it’s the living situation. I won’t dare to ask him to put me up somewhere else, as that would come out of my very own pocket if changed my living arrangements. I wish I could be in my own home and in my own bed, as that is where my real peaceful sanctuary is. My job is my livelihood so I’ll just have to deal with this immature woman until she leaves and I hope it’s real soon bc then that means, me and my other roomie won’t have to share a room and can have our own bedrooms. I just know I’m not going to go to my boss anymore about this woman bc I am not one to complain and already upset at the fact that I had to tell on her the day after I arrived. I really needed to vent, so I came on here to express myself and the situation. Thank you all for reading, your advice and understanding. Your input means a lot… Does anybody else think that this woman’s behavior is strange?

    Hippie-chick,

We do have black out curtains, so that definitely helps. The girl I share a bedroom with has a Himalayan pink salt lamp which she just bought, to stop all the bad energy the Russian girl was giving out. It has helped the last couple of days… My roomie also has candles. I just bring my own blankets and pillow from home, including a foam mattress topper which helps me sleep more comfortably. I won’t eat or cook anything inside this apartment, as all the cookware/pots and pans are all ruined and old and need to be replaced. I’m ok with eating my simple food I buy to make sure I’m getting the proper nutrition and energy each day.
