About a year ago, I started working at a new section at work. As the time passed, I started falling for my co-worker. We are really good friends, and talk all the time. Recently, we have started sharing personal things and things that we both enjoy. Each and everyday I feel like I fall for him more and more. He’ll be moving to another schedule soon, so we won’t be seeing each other at work. I haven’t expressed any of these feelings with him, because 1) I don’t want to mess up our friendship 2) I don’t think he feels the same way, and 3) He got a divorce within the last year and I don’t know if he’s moved on completely. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone could give me some advice??? He sometimes says things in a flirty manner or in a way that someone might take as him liking me. I just want to know if I should move on or take the risk! Any ideas/advice???

Can you just try to build up a relationship with him outside of work so you can keep getting to know him, without it necessarily being a date? e.g. it’s fun talking to you and I know you’re moving to another schedule soon – shall we exchange numbers to stay in touch?

Good friends don’t just mess up when you tell him about your feeling. good friends share their feeling together. if you don’t know if he has move on with his divorce, it is a good start to talk about it and let him open his heart to you. Both of you need to know each other better. Do it by sharing your feeling.

I agree with the other respondents. Opening up your feelings will not necessarily ruin the friendship, although I completely understand why you’re nervous about that happening. If you want to take a little more time, start spending more time with him. That way you can gauge the situation as well as your own feelings. If your feelings continue to grow, open up to him about it. Life is precious and so are connections… you never know until you put yourself out there, and I don’t think there’s any reason to keep those feelings in.

    Wishing you the best!

    Thank you all!

I think that letting it grow is a good idea. I hope that a moment will come where it’ll be good to share those feelings!
