I’m a 60 year old man who grew up not quite grasping the idea of having fun. I was raised with a strong work ethic and as a minority (Japanese American) where we were taught to keep our head down and not call attention to ourselves.

I tell people that I do planned spontaneity and work on having fun. I have taking workshops to address my closed in, careful and restricted (my view) way of living. I have put myself “out there” to do fun things, e.g. roller skating, Halloween dress ups, dancing wildly with abandon, karaoke, hiking, and yes even going on vacation.

It’s still a conscious effort. I may never fully “let myself go.” I do know that I am shortchanging my life if I don’t. I believe that I will be more in touch with what is really important if I do.

Same here….To have fun it’s a conscious effort! More or less it also because of my upbringing. Sometimes, in my mind I try to figure out ways that I could create some fun in my life and people around me. Sounds funny and weird, but it’s true. Good to know that I’m not the only reserved, shy person.

I’m 28, but don’t know if I will ever be able to overcome this shyness.

Trying to see the positive things in me and be content and realize that it’s wrong for me to be comparing with funny people around. I got to know my own USP. Like cooking for friends, neighbors and family. I stay away from my family and miss to be with them.

    That was about me.

You have a good luck Mark, and just to remind you what I once heard…’Life begins @ 60!

    Enjoy life! Stay blessed!

    Lots of positivity from India!
