Tiny Buddha started providing a daily quote on Twitter in the spring of 2008. Currently, over 100,000 people follow for simple wisdom, and the number continues to grow.
The website launched in September 2009, and has quickly grown into one of the most popular wisdom destinations on the web.
Though I have mentioned this is not my site, it is ours, I do maintain it independently. And I have big plans for expansion. If you enjoy Tiny Buddha, you have a number of options to help it grow:
1. Tell your friends. Blog about Tiny Buddha. Link to your favorite posts, or if you’d like you can even re-post them on your site. Please credit the author and include a link to tinybuddha.com–then you’re good to go! You can also Tweet, share on Facebook, Stumble or Digg the posts you most enjoy. It all helps Tiny Buddha grow.
2. Consider sponsoring Tiny Buddha. The site has not had any advertising up to this point. Tiny Buddha will never become a highly commercialized site, but relevant sponsorship would help finance plans for future expansion. If you’re interested in ad placement, contact Lori at email @ tinybuddha.com for more information.
3. Shop through Tiny Buddha’s Amazon affiliate store. There are several books I highly recommend:
- How to Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life (Dalai Lama)
- The Power of Now (Eckhart Tolle)
- The Miracle of Mindfulness (Thich Nhat Hanh)
- 365 Health and Happiness Boosters (M.J. Ryan)
- In Defense of Food (Michael Pollan)
- The Dalai Lama’s Little Book of Wisdom
If you click on any of those links, you’ll then be able to shop through Tiny Buddha’s affiliate store–meaning a small percentage of anything you buy (not just books) will support the site.
4. Donate to Tiny Buddha. As mentioned above, I currently finance this site independently and have since this beginning. I devote 20+ hours a week to writing and editing posts while working a full-time job, and writing my first book. It is my dream to focus all my energy on Tiny Buddha by the end of 2010. I will do that one way or another, but your donation would make it much easier.
Your donation will:
- Help maintain server costs (recently upgraded to handle the traffic Tiny Buddha receives).
- Help finance site enhancements and upgrades (two since the site launched in September, 2009, and one planned for September, 2010).
- Allow for more and stronger content as I have more time to write and edit.
- Be greatly appreciated. It is my greatest joy to run this site; I’m happy to know it makes a difference, whether you choose to donate, comment, or simply read and leave feeling inspired.
You can donate any amount that fits your budget–$5, $25, $50. Whatever feels best for you. Thank you for helping Tiny Buddha grow.
