Hello,
I’m looking for some thoughts on some personal practices to grow in spirituality. Specifically, I’m wondering if anyone would be willing to describe their practices of meditating, how you seek to eliminate suffering, and growing in mindfulness. Forgive me if there is overlap here. Any input is appreciated.

About meditation and mindfulness- there is a massive amount of online/ book information about that, including on the home page of this website (under BLOG at the top).
Many books and whole religions have been created so to answer your question about how to eliminate suffering. Maybe I can give you an individual answer (suggestions, more likely) in regard to your individual suffering. Would you like to share about it?

I would recommend saying one nice sentence to yourself, Start with saying it 3 times a day.
Morning, Noon & night this will teach you to see your worth in how amazing you really are
It could be a complement, accepting where your at, you choose
but what you will find is it will be similar to planting a seed in the ground
like a orange or a apple or even a sunflower, so if we water the seed. take care or it and be soft and patient the seed will grow
now image doing this for 6 months how much the seed will grow but the best part is the harvest so we try this beautiful fruit
we eat it and appreciate it however even better, Think of how many more amazing seeds you have now
for the example taking the sunflower you planted one seed and now come harvest you have 30 more seeds to sow
think how simple yet powerful this is, anyways hope this finds you well

The most important thing is to be constantly mindful about your thoughts, emotions and actions. Everyone has light and dark inside and this is absolutely normal but it takes practice to know how to tame the darkness. The best thing to consider is how useless negativity really is. Even when we think we’re right sometimes it’s still better not to give in to arrogance, resentment, aggression ecc. It just doesn’t do good for you on the long term, you probably know that. All we really want is peace and love. That’s it. So learning the art of observing yourself and taming the irrational beast inside with simple spiritual logic is crucial. Check the native american story of the two wolves, it describes in a very beautiful way my point. Other than that you can meditate. I like it, just sitting in the couch and chillaxing, if you enjoy it you’ll naturally ignore thoughts that arise. This is very useful for us to realise how our observing eternal self is separate from those random thought patterns. I also enjoy doing chi gong and holotropic breathwork but I don’t practice them often. (During holotropic breathwork you can do trauma healing and connect to other dimensions, I was touched once by the vibrating hand of something that wanted to comfort me from the other side). Watch the spiritual youtube, read books, subscribe to Gaia if you want. But chose to follow what you feel drawn to, that’s very important. That’s about it. Peace.

Any practice which one does not have a teacher and sangha is short of the proper guidance needed to reach the lofty goal of spirituality. Not saying there is no merit to having a meditation practice. Personally, I have not had a teacher or sangha for a very long time. So, I have not had the same efforts or time to practice as before.
How does one eliminate suffering or have spiritual growth? For me, I started with trying to not care about things. Then I would not suffer any feelings if things went badly. But, not caring is not a spiritual release. I think it would be more prudent to say to let go of desires and wants. My mother passed away recently. The desires for her to keep living and stay around are what causes suffering. Caring is what being human is about. Let go of one and experience the other.
Practice is essential if one want to be mindful.
