Hello! I am new to the Forums. I want to introduce myself…I’m Michelle. I’m a 33 year old single woman living in Canada. I work, do yoga, meditate, and go to school. I have a few close friends, I have just enough money to live on, but I am in debt and trying to get that sorted out. I have suffered with many illnesses over my lifetime such as depression, social anxiety, fibromyalgia, IBS, etc. They are all manageable most of the time. I have been working on my self improvement for a long time. I go to regular therapy, read self-help books, work out, generally eat well, and so on. I still feel like something is missing. I do feel lonely as I have not been able to find a life partner. I can’t quite figure out how to get to the source of the problem. I was engaged years ago but broke that off due to intense emotional abuse, and I have been in other long-term relationships. I have low self-esteem but I am always working on improving it.
My query is regarding something that freaked me out when I joined; somehow my avatar showed a photo of me when I first signed in. I changed it now, but I dont know how it accessed that photo. Can anyone tell me how this happened? I provided my email address when I signed in and that is it. That photo is not even in my email profile so I am considering creating a new profile in case there is some kind of security issue.
Thank you!

I had the same thing, when I created my profile it already had a picture. My friend told me that was because I had created an avatar through another site (I can’t remember which one it was but it was a generic one that uses this avatar for some other places that are connected to it; it might have been Gravatar). Tiny Buddha must somehow connect to this. I just uploaded a different picture, as you did to cover the one that was automatically there. Perhaps if you can remember if you created an avatar somewhere with the picture that popped up automatically you may be able to disable it.
Hope this helps and welcome to the Tiny Buddha forums 🙂

I’m 28 and single with a marriage breakup and another relation breakup. I wish to work in Canada; and wanted to know how easy/difficult it is to manage being single and live alone in Canada?
I’m currently in India and work in an IT company.
Thanks, Stay blessed !
Lots of positivity to you.

I have not been to India but I know many people from there and for them it is quite a different world but most of them feel like home here after awhile. Being single and living alone in Canada is definitely not uncommon at all. I think in the West it is becoming more and more common as time passes. I encourage you to come for a visit at least to see what it is like. This is a very multicultural country (some regions more than others) and I think you would do well. The winter weather will probably be the biggest change for you. Can you tell me where in Canada you are interested in moving to? I am in Toronto. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I want to introduce myself. I am a 60 year old Japanese American living in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. I have embraced some of the Buddhist-like concepts and practices of compassion, living in the present moment, acceptance of What Is, meditation. I am not a student of Buddhism and don’t care to study or delve deeply into the philosophy of it.I have read Jack Kornfield, Pema Chodron, Mark Epstein, and Sharon Salzberg who are Buddhists. I think of Buddhism as a philosophy of living rather than a religion.
I like the Dalai Lama quote which epitomizes my approach: “This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”
I am working on figuring out how to transition in being a life coach full time. My website is http://www.markwillhelp.com.
I close my messages with “metta” which means “loving kindness.”

Thanks for your response.
I haven’t been to Canada but I have heard many good things about it. I plan to apply for a work visa /PR. Toronto and Vancouver are the places I know that have Finance jobs. I hold an MBA in Finance; with 5 years experience; but applying for PR is a matter of luck!?
Cheers!
