    What a sad story.

And like Fleur, I know what it’s like too, in my own way.

I have no desire to go into detail at this point– it was years ago and far away– but the man I’m spiritually connected to has not left my mind or heart after well over a decade. We met as coworkers, as in Chris’ case. We don’t speak now but have sort of “thought out loud” about each other on Facebook and elsewhere in the past.

Objectively, I’ve always known he was no damn good for me. He was married when we met, and had a reputation for being a skirt chaser as well as a foul-tempered narc with a drinking problem. Right there are tons of good reasons for not even wanting to be in the same county! Yet none of that, nor time nor distance, has stopped me from wondering “what if” anyway…

    Hi Carrie,

N/p. As you can see, I did it too! 😉 Sorry about that.

Thank you for your offer. I’d generally prefer to use email, but understand your wanting to share with the community.

    My situation’s a little funky…

My work history is all over the place! I think it looks awful on paper, even when I use a skills-based format.

Additionally, my most recent jobs (the ones I would put on a resume) don’t reflect what I do want to do for work, even more so than my further-back history. It’s more a case of I have a vague idea of what I want to do, and a much clearer idea of what I *don’t* from those past experiences.

Thirdly, I’m right at that age where it starts to become That Discriminating Factor That No One Wants to Talk About. I wouldn’t worry as much about that if I’d had a solid career (or at least career path) up to now, but being a middle-aged dilettante isn’t allowed like it often is for the young’uns– especially if you’re trying to market yourself as a professional!

I have no criminal history or drug abuse issues, but feel like these and other factors compromise my prospects at least as much.

So… what do you think? 😀

    Hi Carrie,

This is my first post on this site. I came across this thread and am interested in your generous offer as well. Thanks for putting yourself out there!
