    Dear prudence:

Your mother “continued looking for an ideal man who can love her and marry her someday”, and she never got married?

    Dear prudence:

It often happens that a daughter feels so much empathy for her mother that she doesn’t want to be happy until her mother is happy. I wonder if it is possible that you don’t want to succeed where your mother failed, as a kind of loyalty to her?

    Dear prudence:

I will be away from the computer a little longer, will read the above (and anything you may want to add to it) when I am back, in about an hour.

    Dear prudence:

You can make it happen for you, getting married, having a home of our own and a whole lot more- you can make it happen if you live intentionally, that is instead of winging it, make a plan and execute the plan.

In a similar way a person wanting a job prepares a resume, you can prepare a relationship/ marriage resume. Start with the objective or objectives, define them, list the relationships you had and what you learned and can further learn from what happened in those. Then plan a course  of action so  to achieve a successful relationship, a successful marriage. It can be going on an online dating site and putting together a profile there that specifies your objectives.

Living intentionally is like getting places while you are sitting in the driving seat of a car, instead of getting into this man’s car or that man’s care, sitting in the passenger seat and hoping that the man will get you where you want to go.

I will be glad to help you in preparing a relationship/ marriage resume and planning a course of action, if you want.
