    Hello everyone,

How did you celebrate Halloween, or how do you mark the day in your country?

We remember our ancestors and visit them in the cemetery in the Czech republic. However, Halloween – decorating gardens, kids wearing costumes and carving pumpkins – is getting more and more popular with younger parents.

    Sending 🎃🧡

    Hi Everyone

Well, it’s not Halloween, but kind of close to it. Bonfire night. It’s a bit of a strange day when you think about the history of it. I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie V for Vendetta?

Anyway, it’s celebrated with fireworks and a big fire. 🔥

It is a holiday to celebrate the execution of a man who tried to bomb the government. I feel like the meaning is very lost these days. People just like fire and fireworks.

I wanted to share a funny moment. I got this educational game for my son. You match the head and the tail of animals. He’s developing a sense of humour. He was giggling madly collecting the bums of all the animals. His laughter was infectious. 😂 ❤️

There is a rhyme that survived about the history.

Remember, remember the 5th of November
    Gunpowder, treason and plot
    I know of no reason
    Gunpowder treason
    should ever be forgot.

    Hi Alessa

Gunpowder treason. I guess It could be read in at least two ways 1 that violence should not be used to solve issues
2 the complete opposite that force is an appropriate action .
Around the world is remembrance Sunday etc. where after the horrors of world war one . We shall remember them so that such a disaster should not be perpetrated again & yet less than a generation later we humans were at it again, & again & again we have continued to find bigger & definitely not better ways to inflict pain on our fellow brothers & sisters. Each year our island holds a memorial service to those who were interned here during WWII . I read out Lau Tzu Poem If there is to be peace….
If there is to be peace in the world,
there must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
there must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
there must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors.
there must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
there must be peace in the heart.

this poem is now more important then ever

    Hi Roberta

    Thank you for sharing! ❤️

I always interpreted it as a deterrent. The bonfire originally had an effigy of Guy Fawkes (the man who tried to blow up parliament), which would be burned on it. Quite a grisly holiday really. 🤔

You are very thoughtful to reflect on the mistakes of the past.

I love the poem. I’m such a fan of Lao Tzu. You made my day. 😊

Much love to you and your father! ❤️
