Exactly, I just got to let it be.

He’s dropping off all the stuff I left in his apartment on Thursday, I’m going home for a couple of weeks, and just resetting.

Definitely. I blocked him on all social media. I’m going to keep working on myself. He’s stopping by to drop the stuff off I left in his apt on Thursday. After that, it’s just time and space and maybe more time and space.

Good luck doll, sometimes we have set free the things we love. If it is meant to be it will return to us, in the meantime power and push forward. Live a fulfilled life and start focusing on yourself so when you are ready for the dating arena, nothing will hold you back or stop you from being vulnerable. Otherwise, you’ll face the same pitfalls again and again.

Maya, have you told your therapist that you feel you have much anxiety and intrusive thoughts? It is possible that treatment in these two areas can help you move forward to a clearer thinking. Anita wrote about emotional regulation skills and this is another great thing to have your therapist help you with. There is much paradoxical thinking in your feelings about the relationship with this man. I suspect this confuses you. You may want him being more in contact because it helps you self soothe, have less anxiety, and allow you to relax which limits the intrusive thoughts. The converse is also true, no contact and the break up trigger your anxiety, ruminations and intrusive thoughts, and it can become heard to emotionally regulate. Sometimes, it is how our brains work that needs more help.

Yes, she knows everything! I think I will talk to her about more practical ways to use emotional regulation skills. I need to not let one person completely control my thoughts and feelings–I mean he is not doing it, but I can’t let my brain and anxiety obsess over this one person. I need to focus on myself.
