So I’m a senior in high school, and I have an issue that has been haunting me as a religious person.
I feel that I am more attracted to girls than guys, and as a girl, I know this would make God extremely mad. I lie in my bed and cry every night, asking why God would do this to me. I have considered suicide, but I’ve never touched a hair on my head, and I’m too big of a wimp to kill myself. I have been doing soul searching and realized it will be for the better to live by myself forever. God can’t get mad at me if I don’t do anything for him to be mad about, right?
I know many of you might not believe in a god, but I do. It’s very important for me to go to Heaven as well, and I don’t want to cry myself to sleep for the next seventy years or until I die from heartbreak.
How can I learn to not hate myself? And how can I come to terms that being by myself is for the best?
thanks for your help in advance. <3

Is your country and culture accepting towards sexual minorities? Have you come across discrimination towards sexual minorities in your community? Do you know of such cases in your country?
Does your country have a support association for sexual minorities? If it does, I recommend you to join their activities. You might find people who are in a similar situations as you are.
Are you a Christian? There are Christians in my country who also belong to sexual minorities. There are countless ways to interpret the Bible, and the Bible does not necessarily forbid same-sex relationships and love.
There are ways for you to reconcile your faith and your sexual orientation. There will come a day when you have conquered your hardships and you will live in a very happy place. Have faith.

I caution you on knowing how God reacts to your behavior. I am curious how do you know what God will do or react to? I am curious on where you get this view of God.
If you start with the premise that God is love then I think that will help you deal with this better.

“I feel that I am more attracted to girls than guys, and as a girl, I know this would make God extremely mad”-
-from my understanding of Christianity/ the bible, god holds a person responsible only for the choices that they make, that is, the behaviors they exercise, not for their feelings or inclinations. For example, in the garden of Eden story, god held Adam and Eve responsible for eating the apple, not for desiring the apple. So I figure, for as long as you don’t act on your attraction, you are in no way in trouble with the god you believe in.
I suggest that you see a pastor, or a religious leader and talk to him or her about this very issue, someone with a reputation of being sensible and kind. Make sure before sharing that it will be confidential. Then ask about choosing a behavior vs. experiencing a feeling/ emotion. Ask more questions.
I hope you feel better soon and that your conflict is resolved in a way that you can live with in peace.
