About a month ago I got intoxicated and cheated on my boyfriend of two years!  I continue to feel sick to my stomach about it!  I can’t eat or sleep! I feel so ashamed and worthless!

I told him right away and he broke it off right then!  I haven’t spoken to him in over a week because I’m wanting to give him space, but I would DO ANYTHING for a second chance!

I am currently in therapy once a week to get tools to cope and how to let go of the regret and the thought of pain I caused my ex!  Any advice would be great!

    Dear mamaof2kids:

If other than the cheating you were honest and kind to him and he was the same to you, if the relationship was healthy for the two of you, no aggression in it, then I hope you do get a second chance. A one time event of intoxication and cheating, as regretful as it is, I hope, will not result in the ending of a two year healthy relationship.

Was it healthy, one of no aggression, kind and loving?

I’ve been cheated on and I reluctantly admit to cheating once before. It’s awful all the way around. Understand that he has to work through his pain and he may not want to give you a second chance. Unfortunately, you have to come to terms with that being a possibility. It’s a really hard pain to move past so just let him take the lead.

It was a GREAT relationship… very little arguments or disagreements!

Yes Paula, I’m trying to put in my mind that it’s completely over so I don’t have a hope that we are getting back together!  I need to mourn the loss of that relationship!
