    Dear Jaime:

Would you like to elaborate on your “real physical pains”- are they related to injury/ illness other than anxiety?

    Hi Anita,

thankyou for asking… no injury no but the anxiety over the past year has escalated and even when I’m feeling happy and calm I get chest pains that then spark the worry.. I have had ecgs and checks and I’m ok yet still get these pains frequently? I’m having cbt now, just started actually and I’m told it’s in my subconscious.. I have started yoga and use mindfulness and meditation but each day it’s as if the anxiety has to remind me it’s there with these pains 🙁 …I know health anxiety is a circle as you seek reassurance then its ok for a while but the pains are real and life’s really good for me, hubby, kids, settled etc so I don’t understand it?! Any advice would be welcomed xx

    Dear Jaime:

Anxiety is the root cause of so many symptoms, it is incredible how many symptoms there are. Those chest pains, when you feel them, don’t panic, if you can. Aim at not panicking. Instead, when you first notice a pain, stay with it, calm down best you can, take a slow deep breath, inhale, exhale and pay attention to the pain. Notice where it hurts, how it feels, how it changes, how it gets worse, if it does, how it stays the same then goes away.

Then go on with your life. When you notice a pain again, repeat, breathe, stay, notice. If you would like et me know how this exercise goes for you.
