I have suffered from anxiety for more than 3 years, but now I have more control over it but I don’t think it’s gone completely. During those 3 years almost everything brought anxiety and made me feel tense, especially social events. Now I am much better and they don’t bother me that much anymore, but now I have this “down” feeling almost since the moment I wake. It is like feeling sad and heavy for no apparent reason. I don’t get excited for anything and the things that used to make me happy doesn’t anymore. I have several close friends and I do hang out a lot. I work on a project with a couple of friends and play sports a couple of times a week, so it’s not like I am closing on my self and not doing anything, but nothing brings me satisfaction, sometimes I feel a little bit happy, but it doesn’t stay for long. Also I was accepted to do a masters degree something I have been working hard to get for the last 18 months, but getting accepted was… more or less tasteless. I don’t know whether I should fight this down feeling or let it be there. I have read a lot of articles which says that I should let my feelings pass by, but it has been 3 months and they are almost the same, just a bit better. So please let me know what do you think whether I should stop myself from thinking like this or keep it the way it is.

    Thanks

Hmm difficult one. Whenever I go through a period when everything seems a bit stale I do two things:

Firstly I remember all the things I’ve wanted to do or interests I have but haven’t got round to exploring, and pick them up and do them. I actually keep a mental list of these things so that I’m ready with them when things become stale around me.

Secondly I look out for new things and experiences and pursue them.

Basically I try to incorporate some new element or perspective into my life by either revisiting something or finding something new.

Don’t know if any of that helps, but good luck 🙂

    Mou,

It sound to me like you have a fear hangover. 🙂 After emotional and mental upheavals, especially long lasting ones, our bodies can feel raw. If you’ve ruled out any chemical imbalances with your doctor, then perhaps you need to exercise your joy!

One of my teachers told me that joy is fueled by generosity. We can sometimes get lost in the whirlwind of activities of a modern life, and do not give our time to helping. This spirit of helping is what makes the world sparkle. Said differently, when we think life looks blah, sometimes it is helpful to give back. If we look for ways in which we can help, and jump courageously with love, we find the clouds clear and the sun shines.

    With warmth,
    Matt
