    Hello,

I am a 33 year old mother of two small children. I work full time and am also taking online classes. My commute to work is 1 hour one way and I also live over 2 1/2 hours from our family. Needless to say my life feels very stressed as of lately and I feel lost.

I feel like I am lost and don’t know how to fix the way I am feeling. My husband and I have great jobs and how two small boys who are the cutest things. Yet I still feel stressed, unhappy, anxiety and resentment. I have the hardest time making decisions and I used to be on top of getting things done around the house and errands, but now I all I want to do is nothing. I have gained weight and can’t stop eating unhealthy.

I had been taking depression medicine and seeing a therapist, but I am not happy with either. I just want to be happy with who I am and what I have accomplished in life. I feel like my anxiety and stress has taken over and am in this huge rut that I can’t get out of.

Any advice or tips on how to meditate and reframe my thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    StressedMomma

    My Dear StressedMomma

What a beautiful post :), which comes with its own answers and wisdom. Just assume it is written by someone else and have a read of it in a quiet time. You will see what I am seeing.

    Some highlights of your post:
    – mother of 2 small kids
    – full time worker
    – full time housewife and mother
    – Husband also working full-time
    – long commute to work
    – putting on weight
    – unhealthy eating habits
    – want to do nothing
    – family not in very close proximity so need to do long commute again
    – reduced capacity to make decisions
    – doing online classes as well
    – ? Underlying depression and seeing a therapist

The list could go on and on. You must get an award for being a superwoman !!

The underlying issue is that you are not getting adequate “YOU” time. Do you really need to do so much in a day ? Can you pls be kind to yourself ? Are you in a hurry to leave this world or win some race of who does the most in a day and then collapses into a heap of anxiety, stress etc ?

We all need adequate nutrition, regular exercise, quality sleep and ME time to function at our optimal best. Are you doing any of the following ? Look meditation will do its work fully when your mind and body are functioning well. First, you need to make yourself a priority and put some strategies in place to look after your well being. If need be, go and see a local doctor to see if your vitamin, mineral and hormone profile is ok. If your system is lacking in something, local GP should be able to assist.

I am sure others will be able to assist with providing insights into various meditation techniques for yourself but my personal experience shows that we need to also focus on mind and body. Cut down on things that you don’t in your life and make yourself as the FIRST priority followed by KiDS / HUSBAND. If you are not able to cut down on your work or study commitments, see if your partner can cut down his hours and take on more home duties. If not, you will be asking for more trouble in the very near future. Do also think about your small kids and what impact you must be having on their growing brains. Kids need well functioning parents to do well in their lives. Well functioning means in all aspects – emotional, mental, physical, social, financial, intellectual, spiritual etc.

Pls look after yourself. I hope you are able to access the wisdom that you hold within yourself. You are a very insightful soul 🙂

    Best wishes,

    Jasmine

Hi! 🙂 you are busy busy busy! Anxiety and stress can be so crippling . It’s so hard to take time for yourself while you are in so school, working and taking care of children BUT taking some time for you is so important for your sanity . Even if it’s at the end of the night for a little while. Personally , I enjoy bubble baths with lavender ! Doesn’t sound like much but it’s so relaxing .also I enjoy knitting and crocheting abd believe it or not that calms me Down tremendously . Find something you enjoy. It’s easy to get lost in life abd your busy going and going then BAM. TAKE care love.
