I’ve been working at my job for almost three years now (in March 2019). I work doing bookkeeping in an office. There’s pros and cons to where I work. I get paid sick/vacation days. I work on a salary basis and sometimes we do outdoor events. My uncle used to be my boss but got promoted to another location.
Ever since he got promoted, my new boss is a dick. He’s old and has the shortest temper I’ve ever encountered for a Libra. Just two months ago my uncle warned me that my boss was going to fire me. I made two mistakes but it was VERY unfair of his decision. Not only unfair but embarrassing how everyone in the office found out I was about to be fired. Everyone else I work with does mistakes as well but I felt as if he tried to use me as his example to keep everyone on their toes. His wife is best friends with one of my co workers which is also a red flag for me.
Long story short, ever since I started working for my new boss, I really dread coming into work. I hate my job. I also hate how I can’t express myself. I have gauges and a septum and three tattoos. That’s the most expression I have here because people “tolerate” it but I know they disapprove of it. I feel like the outcast here. I wish I could dye my hair funky colors and just BE MYSELF.
I really want to quit my job and bartend or do something I would enjoy but I do live on my own and have rent to pay. I fear I won’t get a good paying job elsewhere without having to bust my ass. I know there’s people that don’t have jobs and I should be appreciative but how can I? When everything in this office bothers me? I’m already diagnosed with anxiety and bipolar disorder. This place adds onto it and puts me in a negative mood. I also feel like I have to reach my parent’s standards. How should I think or what should I do?

I just noticed that you posted on hour other thread four days ago, I didn’t see that post, otherwise I would have replied to you then. Regarding this thread, you wrote that you were fired from this job with the unfair, angry boss, weren’t you?
If you weren’t fired and asking what to do, I would say quit as soon as you are able, find a new job, give your notice and quit. You wrote that you “have to reach (your) parents’ standards”, I wonder what are those standards.
Maybe it is a pressure that you can eliminate from your life, trying to reach their standards. Maybe your life will be much easier if you don’t try to reach their standards, and instead determine your own and reach your standards, not theirs.

You live on your own and have rent to pay. So by all means I think hold on to the job that you have till you are in sights of a new one.
Have you thought of the job that you are going to enjoy. I think you should give it a good thought with all the details defined so that you are able to correctly identify what you need to move to. You have been in your current job for three years, maybe looking at what you liked about the current job could give you a perspective for the next one.
I liked your quote in the reply in another post. “your perception of me is a reflection of you” 🙂 Useful
