Hey everyone, my name is Myles, I’m 17, I’m gay (irrelevant information, I know, i’m just trying to introduce myself I guess), I like Acting a lot, I like video games a lot, and I’m a giant R&B and neo-soul nerd. Funnily enough, the singer India.Arie echoes a lot of stuff I’ve seen on this website. I’ve been using this website for about a year now, it started after I got out of a pretty disastrous relationship and I felt… dead inside, I would say. I’ve been through a lot of things in my life and I always felt like my feelings about these situations were alien, and when I found this website, it was like the heavens opened up I guess. And, my god, the people here are just… people. I don’t mean to generalise and say that all people who use this website are Buddhists, but, I don’t know, I just always thought of Buddhism at least (I’m still an atheist, it’s just that a lot of the articles here have helped me through some tough times.) as this esoteric thing that only the purest of people can get to. I forgot to mention I’m really awkward, so I’m really sorry if any of this comes across as really all over the place. What I mean to say is that everyone I’ve ever seen on this website just exudes honesty, and I put respeck on that, to quote Birdman. This is just me saying hi, and I’ll probably tell more about myself as time goes on.

Hi Myles, welcome to Tiny Buddha. I hope you will enjoy it here.

I’m not Buddhist either and I have never regarded myself as being a Buddhist but there’s a lot about the philosophy that resonates with me and makes a lot of sense to me, especially things like the causes of suffering and the middle path. And I am not perfect at all.

What video games do you like?

    Do post more

Myles…WELCOME!!!! Like Joe, I am. not Buddhist either. But in my project of changing my way of thinking I associate myself more with a Buddhist philosophy. I do practice Kriya Yoga, the teachings of an amazing man, Paramanhasa Yogananda. As you have recognized this site is without kind enough words to describe. It is however, lacking something. It lacks shallowness, it lacks fake. Don’t frustrate yourself by trying to find those things. They simply are not here and shall never be here. The love here only grows and grows and grows. The people here, whether they are ones who come here to seek advise, or are the ones who offer advice, have a soul so deep with love and peace. I look forward to more of your posts. I wish you, and everyone else here, all the love, peace, and happiness that life has to offer for an eternity longer than a lifetime. It is the least that you deserve. And it is here that you shall find it.

I’m a giant Bioware fans, the Need For Speed series kind of nurtured my interest in cars too, they’re quite a big part of my childhood to be honest.

Hey Pearce and Joe, thank you for commenting, it’s nice to know there are people here who aren’t Buddhist (not that being Buddhist is a bad thing), like I said earlier, I feel like everyone here just exudes honesty. And at the time I found this website, I felt like a husk, I was thoroughly convinced I was a bad person and that I was just pretending to be a good person so I could lie to myself. I might have come across things like having compassion for people who have wronged you, taking responsibility, not being a victim before coming across this website, but I never truly understood what any of it meant. I just felt like I would say things like “have compassion” to friends asking me for advice, knowing good and damn well that I didn’t do it myself (I STILL find it hard) just because I thought it was “appropriate” to say.
