Hi friends. I like to think about things, about life, the meaning of life and if all of this is just coincidence (that we are here) or if there is something bigger – not a God, but just SOMETHING. I am very spiritual, I like to think that there is something out there, but sometimes I think there isnt. I feel like in my life, a lot of things has happend where I am thinking “there MUST be a meaning” and other times I am thinking that it’s all in MY head, and it’s just because I CHOOSE to believe and notice small things.

What are your thoughts? What do you think about this subject? Is there absolutely nothing? Or is there something that makes us go through something that makes us who we are? Do you believe in karma? Do you think people are in total control of their life or do some things happend because they were supposed to happen?
    I would like to know.
And also, fortune tellers – how come they are SO accurate? Do you believe in astrology?
It CANT be coincidence that some people can see something in the future and it happens!

    Hi Chloe

You are asking some profound questions at a very young age.

    My perspective:

    – I am not religious but know the essence of each religion.
    – I have been practicing meditation for a little while now and have been working on self for some time too to answer the same questions that you have raised. Finally, I have come to a stage where I do not have a questioning state of mind but a state of mind, which seeks solutions 🙂 and am still a work in progress.

    – There is universal consciousness (some call it God or superpower etc) and there is individual consciousness (each being) but we are all part of one as it is all energy.

    – You can also call it as “absolutely nothing” or you can call it as, “it is everything”. It doesn’t really matter.

    – I do believe in Karma Law now, which says that we are responsible for everything that happens in our lives. It gives the power back to us to take charge of our existence. Each action of ours lead to an outcome and every outcome can be a favourable one or an unfavourable one. What we do with an action and an outcome depends purely on the level of our consciousness.

    – With my growing understanding, I have come to a conclusion that things do happen as they are meant to be but we have a choice of how to react to them and that determines our future. For example: an incident occurs – we can either respond to it in a negative way and get stuck to it or we can become detached from it and learn what the incident is teaching us. If we decide to learn, we grow our consciousness and move forward. Our future becomes light and bright. It is very simple to test this law out. What don’t you try it ?

    – Another way of looking at Karma law is to see how things operate in the nature. When a tomato seed is sown, it grows into a tomato plant and we get tomatoes in a few weeks. Sow a mango seed and in a few years, we will see a mango tree and some beautiful mangoes. Some seeds germinate quickly while others take years to grow into a form. Similarly, our actions today may lead to immediate outcomes or they can lead to delayed outcomes depending on the intensity and persistence of our reaction.

    – What goes around comes around multifold. Again, try it before you believe it. As for the timing of when it comes around, no one knows as at a higher consciousness level, time has no meaning. Some things materialise quickly and others takes a life time and there after (if you believe in that) but the ledger has to balance out. For example: If someone borrows a dollar from you, they will have to return the dollar or some form of it someday. There are no favours or negative balance sheet.

    – Have you ever wondered why you got the set of parents you did and not Prince Charles or Dianna as your parents ? Have you wondered why you meet certain people at certain points in life ? Why do some people bring so much love into our lives while others make our lives difficult at the drop of a hat? Why does a total stranger transform our life in a second and then disappear ?

    – Fortune tellers are accurate to a point. They use science to determine some aspects of how things have been and how your current thinking can lead to similar outcomes in the future. Do you think Bill Gates or Obama frequent fortune tellers ? There is a select group of people who go to fortune tellers as they feel that life is outside of their control and someone else is controlling their destiny. Once you realise that you are the creator of your today and tomo and every other day, you wont need fortune tellers and even if you do trial them out, they wont be able to predict your future then as your thinking has gone beyond their science.

    – Yes, many people can see future or predict things. It is an ability that ALL of us have but we just don’t know about it as yet. Grow your consciousness and you will be a clairvoyant one day too 🙂

Ok enough of high level stuff. As long as Chloe believes that Chloe is responsible for everything that happens in life, she will take an action to improve her life. When the responsibility is placed on anything else other than Chloe, the action disappears and life becomes a drag.

Hope this helps. I am sure there are many evolved Buddhas on this site who will offer a different insight and I look forward to their inputs.

    Hi Chloé@lavieestbelle
I don’t believe in fortune tellers at all. I think fortune tellers are for people who are extremely confused and not sure about themselves. I said it from my own experience. When I was young, I did like to visit fortune tellers, tarot readers…etc. I even went to a bird reader! None of them said anything accurate about my future. They’re mentalist. They observed me and say what I wanted to hear. I often went against what they said and maybe that was why nothing was accurate. Haha.
Have a faith in yourself Chloé.
    With love.

I believe there is something bigger than us, whether you want to call it God or not I believe if you sit and listen in a peaceful natural place from everything corrupted by man you will begin to feel it. We humans are ego centric we believe that we are created in God’s image, we call God a he and all that. I think we would be a lot more responsible if we did not see ourselves in this way. Sometimes I think that it is time for us to become the custodians, rather than the forces of destruction we are. The processes and forces to get things to where they are have been precise and according to our time here slow!

There is a driving force behind everything, in fact we are finding that everything is exactly the opposite of we have thought all along. Reality is the product of chaos, whether you want to think of it as the big bang or not, whatever, but something applies force subtly to everything causing things to happen. It is unfathomable for man to ever comprehend exactly how everything came to be, the odds are almost 1 in infinite, but just the fact that Earth and life exists means that the odds are there that there is at least one other, but also that there are no others. I have thought of many scenarios in my head and I have studied many religions some make sense to me, for instance maybe creation and destruction just keep happening over and over and I say that because as we look at the universe we see that it is expanding. There are forces pulling everything in, but also a force pushing everything away from each other. Will it eventually collapse in on itself and again cause another “big bang” and thus everything will happen exactly as it has the last other infinite times. Maybe that explains deja vu? We’ve done this dance before, maybe that is that nirvana state- being released from the ever repetition of things? I don’t think we will ever know! Nor are we supposed to know! If there is a “God” it is not the manmade God we read about, but an entity beyond comprehension that works by pushing things in certain ways that cause events to occur. I often think how when something is sitting untouched in what seems in a state of balance and suddenly an event causes it to move. This is a small scale replica, on the large scale what causes things to happen other than a force that we can not see. In my example it may be a sudden pressure change, but in a vacuum what causes it? We are learning so much about physics and have come far just since Einstein, but think of how ignorant we were in the times when the events that religious texts were written.

I always look at time, Earth time that is and think about if there is a God surely God doesn’t go by Earth time. Human existence compared to the existence of everything is but a fraction of a second, to something timeless like God it wouldn’t even register as time. Yet when we talk of everything coming into being through God we speak through Earthly knowledge, but what is our time besides a set of equations of rotations and revolutions of Earth.

Math is maybe the only way we will ever understand anything. Its crazy how much we can find out through math. Math doesn’t explain much, but it allows us to understand the “laws” that reality and everything abides by. We figure odds, forces, distances, ages, etc… Math is the foundation of the sciences which is why I left out science just because it figures into it.

Next time you find yourself in nature, sit and meditate. The conditions have been just right for everything to be the way it is, I agree with your questions it is awe-inspiring to wonder on such grand things. Like I said Thank you for causing me to think deeply today :).

    Hi Chloe,

It’s hard to say for sure whether there is some higher intelligence behind the scenes, one way or another. I am a non-believer, though I also think this would change if I experienced sufficient evidence. From the evidence we have so far, I share Carl Sagan’s description of life… ‘these are some of the things that hydrogen atoms do given fifteen billion years of cosmic evolution’

Even though it seems the jury is out on whether there is ‘something’ or not, it does not bother me because what we DO know about the universe and our place in it is profoundly amazing.

I suggest watching the recent Cosmos series hosted by Neil Degrasse Tyson. It explains how the galaxies, solar systems, and planets form. There’s also an episode on evolution, which explains how all life on Earth shares a common ancestor. That means that you, me, plants, fish, even bacteria all branched off from the same tree of life over the course of a few billion years. The evidence for this is in the fossil record and also in the DNA of every single creature. One thing we don’t know is how life started. Though, from the first single cell organism onward to all life you see today, can all be explained by evolution.

Is there a connected consciousness among humans or even all life? I have yet to find any evidence to support that this is true. Sure it’s a warm and fuzzy notion, but just because something feels right does not make it true. This urge to believe in something without evidence is so easy for us to get caught up in. We have evolved to recognize patterns in all places, mistaking a shadow for a person, etc. Do a google search for Bertram R. Forer and read about his experiment. It may give you insight into astrology, fortune tellers, and others who claim to know your future. You mentioned that a fortune teller accurately predicted someone’s future. Look closer at what was predicted. Was it something ordinary? What were the other predictions? Were they successful on just some of them? Again, we have a tendency as pattern seeking creatures to see what we want to see.

I don’t see any evidence for Karma either. I do think there might be a Karma like psychological effect when you do something, say, hurtful. Or at least for mentally stable people. When I know that I’ve hurt something, even unintentional, I feel guilt. That in itself is a repurcussion. There is no evidence to support the idea that something negative will happen to you if you are hurtful to others.

Science offers to you the knowledge of the universe which is supported by evidence. That body of knowledge is amazing in itself, without the need for fortune tellers, higher beings, ghosts.

    Follow the evidence 🙂

I think there is some truth too everyone’s perception one here … that we all see things in a different light N darkness … which makes rainbows and then appear so bright !!

however I believe the key is too find balance … of  course not of wicked things that cause harm to innocents but of different perspectives of light and beautiful colors even in the face of adversity..

until then I’m afraid… mankind will be its own karma if destruction… it’s only a matter of time and nothing last forever …

    not even memories
