I had the most realistic death dream I have ever had last night. I tried to find a senseful interpretation of it later but it was way too challenging. I would be thankful if someone could come up with something.
It began in the middle of a street. I passed by two gangster crews. They were fighting and threatening eachother with guns. The weird thing about the situation is that I couldnt hear any sound. Everything was progressing silently. The people(?) were wearing hoodies or something and were all covered up. I couldnt even see their faces. So I got scared and decided not to interfere. On the left of me lied a vast house with opened door. I hid behind the door hoping that everything would pass and I wouldnt get harmed since I was a civil. All the sudden a voice answered my thoughts: ‘So what of that’ and a bullet was fired through the door right into my heart. I felt panic throughout the weird dialogue moment but after getting shot all I felt was peace. I had no sense of physical feelings except pain in my heart. I was thinking how I shouldnt give up because this couldnt be happening. Sadly I couldnt control my breath anymore and I dided as if I was consciously falling into a deep sleep. Then I woke up a bit frightened and confused.
So here you go, people. Help me if you can! – Ivan

    hi ivan,

i’d say from the sense of peace you say you felt as you were “dying” you are in the midst of or will experience some kind of important ending or transition. the sensation of lingering pain from the bullet suggests to me that it will be some kind of emotional experience that will shake you up and mark the end and beginning of circumstances; perhaps the “deep sleep” is what will occur before newer and brighter things happen, once you metaphorically recover from your wounds. you tried to hide in a house bc you thought “being a civilian” would spare you from harm but you saw that you only put yourself in harm’s way by trying to get out of it so perhaps it is a message from your subconscious not to hide from conflict or a particular issue in your life you may be struggling with.

i hope that my analysis is helpful somewhat even if it’s a bit vague 🙂

On a more real life view, is it possible that you had sleep apnea? That’s when your body stops breathing while sleeping. So you stopped breathing and your dream state interpreted that to mean you are dying. Then your subconscious filled in the blanks as to how that would happen.

The gangs and the fact that being in a house and being a civilian didn’t save you from death means that you feel very vulnerable in waking life.

Someone once told me that it’s not the contents of a dream that are important, but rather the feelings that it elicits. I’m not a big fan of psychoanalysis and trying to interpret what in your dream represents what in your life. However, the feelings the you’re experiencing may be indicators of how you’re feeling about your life situation. From your post, I sense fear and a need to feel secure and safe. So I ask, what are you afraid of? Do you feel threatenned or a need for security? Is there anything you really have to fear? Is anything really threatening you? If so, how will you respond to this real threat? If there is no real threat, could it simply be your amygdala unconsciously responding to perceived threats?

@LB I recently moved to the capital of my country with studying purposes. This is my first step to individual life and not having the protection of loved ones. Everything is pretty new here and I felt really insecure especially in the first week or so. Things are getting better now though. I believe that the disconfort due to this life change made me have such a dream with intense feelings. Thanks to everyone who replied, it means alot!
