I think I have developed a pattern of using food as a control, to stop me feeling big emotions.

I am wondering about working on mind me saying, and also toy don’t know whether I could follow a diet that is anti-inflammatory. I have a lot of digestive issues which are perhaps a reflection of me holding onto emotions and then having all the stuff sleepout. My dad Justin is very slow. I have recently started to make golden milk with Timeric paste, and generally I have salad every day and a smoothie with flax seed. I just find myself taking instead of having proper meals I’m so I never feel for the hungry and I never feel like I’m really making myself a special meal. My dream is that I can have a healthy relationship with food, and when I have a mail to set the table for myself and to feel like this is something to be enjoyed by other than just picking and stuffing! My day is generally very healthy, lots of greens and plant based food… It is more the way that I eat if that makes sense – I am a guilty Eater!

    Dear Giulia:

Eating healthily, that is, not just eating healthful foods, but eating in a way that works for me and not against me, has been my challenge for a long, long time. I found out that my overall healing is making my eating healthier. For as long as I tried the diet approach, I did succeed in losing weight but at a cost of obsessing on food and ending up very anxious about food and eating every single day. As I am healing my core issues, my eating and my own IBS are improving.

Be patient and gentle with yourself. Make slow but steady improvement every day, little by little, it is a long term project.

    Hi Giulia,

Usually when we have digestive issues, it absolutely has to do with the food we’re eating, rather than emotional issues.

I would get an anti-inflammatory cookbook. Make one delicious meal a week. For the rest of the week, eat what you normally do, and/or make meals from the leftovers from the recipe! Eat three meals a day. Then don’t think about food! No stress.

    Best,

    Inky
