    You wrote that he was your best friend. He is no longer your best friend. Not even a friend according to my definition of a friend. He no longer benefits you, no longer operate for you.

    Regarding your question: I … assume it will get easier, that you will not think about him much and you will not miss him anymore when you are in a new relationship with another man. I hope it will be a healthy, loving relationship, one that will benefit you (and the man). At that point, the object of your attachment will be another man, and the attachment to this man will weaken and weaken, maybe quickly so.
