Hi All,
I honestly take advil like it’s candy unfortunately. For many years, I have had knots in my neck and neck tension that just won’t go away even if I receive a massage or give myself one. I feel like the tension in my neck causes a headache to come on, or the sensation of one at least if it goes untreated with advil. I also realize that sometimes one of advil’s side effects after taking it, is, ironically enough, more headaches… one has to find humor in such a situation. I realize it could be some kind of pinched nerve causing these unwanted tight feelings and knots. When I was younger, I had a head MRI to attempt to find the cause of my frequent headaches. The result came back clean, which I am grateful for. I have tried mixing carrier oil and essential oil that have been specifically for headache ease. No reprieve. I have held off on purchasing CBD oil as I am afraid it will cause trace amounts of THC in the body, as even though it is legal by federal standards if the percentage is below .03% I believe, I don’t want to take a chance especially in higher doses of CBD it can obviously increase the trace amounts of THC in it. In years past I have also smoked mj which made me feel better psychologically, but my headaches always came back normally. For the record, 99% of the time, they are not migraines and/or debilitating painful; just annoying and makes me reach for advil every time to put a stop to them, a conditioned response I suppose.
Any thoughts or solutions on what anyone else does to relieve neck and head pain? I suppose taking a dip in a hot tub or spending more time in nature may help, but it just seems that no matter what I do to promote more wellness and relaxation into my life, my headaches still stick with me like an annoying mosquito you just cannot shake or get rid of… we all I’m sure are familiar with that at some point in our lives 🙂

Based on your previous threads, I’d say that it is childhood anxiety that affects your body, causing these headaches. Anxiety is fear that keeps being experienced over time. One result is muscles tightening, contracting over long period of time. That causes pain.
Quality psychotherapy will help, daily aerobic exercise, healthy habits, better choice making, relaxing yoga, relaxing mindful meditations (Mark Williams’ mindful meditation series worked for me), perhaps tai chi with the right teacher. These are few things that come to my mind.

I wonder if you’ve thought of locating someone who teaches the Alexander Technique. It occurs to me that you may have developed some poor postural habits over the years and the Alexander Technique will teach you how to use your body correctly. This helps relieve stress and strain throughout the body including the head and neck area.

Anita, I am starting as a new patient next week to see a quality psychiatrist that came well recommended by my doctor. I am looking forward to this new experience. I also have been experimenting switching up my meal habits, meal times, and healthier eating without as much harsh judgment on my part. I gently keep reminding myself how good it feels to let go and to continue to practice gentleness and love with myself and my relationship with myself. I will check out Mark Williams’ mindful meditation series, thank you.
Peggy, I will look into the Alexander Technique. My posture by all means has lots of room for improvement. I think I could definitely learn a thing or two about the teachings of how to use my body correctly with all the muscles, alignment, posture, well-being, etc.. so much to discover and learn! And also as we’ve discussed in previous threads, the never-ending beauty and peace found in nature can soothe the mind and soul. There are so many beautiful sights to observe and appreciate, it is so amazing and incomprehensible how much detail, life, a universe, is in just a drop of water or in a bunch of little pebbles… so much complexity, life, detail, in the “average” that we must pause and observe, quietly.

You are welcome. Try the Warrior 1 and Warrior 2 yoga postures, as well as the triangle postures/ stretches. Google those if you don’t know what they are and do them gently and mindfully, holding each posture for a minute or two. See how that feels.

October 4, 2019 at 3:38 pm #316113AikoParticipantIt’s energy. You’re storing emotional trauma in those areas. Therapy should help. Also doing a lot of development work. Start journaling while you’re at it.
