It’s always difficult when change brings about something unwanted – i too, after uni and moving to a fresh city for work, found it incredible that i had become so isolated. No longer did i have that big group of mates, or the local pub to visit and you always knew someone in there to talk to. So what do you do when you feel lonely? You fill that time up with stuff so you don’t feel lonely. However, that is easier said than done because doing even stuff alone can make you feel even more lonlier, because you wish you were doing it with someone else! So there really is only one option, get out there and make some companions. Thankfully there are a couple of good sites that bring people in similar boats, with similar interests together. One is called meetup – check it out, join some groups that take your fancy and take the plunge at making some new friends.

I am similar to the above writer, i too go through phases of lonliness, not so much boredom, just times of feeling really disconnected to the world. I used to have a lot of friends throughout school and uni, and even though i speak to a good few of these still, i can’t help but feel i have somehow lost my identity and my close, comfortable relationships with friends that i truly relate with. It doesn’t help that the majority of these are long distance and that literally close friendships, i have only a couple, so at weekends or free periods of time, i normally do things alone or with my boyfriend if i don’t plan in advance. A lot of the time i envy close social circles, i miss having a large group of mates to always spend Friday night with but then i remind myself i’m lucky to have the friends i do have, no matter where they are. I however, would love to have friends in closer proximity to me. As for boredom, read read, walk walk. The world is a beautiful place and books can take you away to other beautiful places.

    1. Always keeping my home neat and tidy – decluttered home = decluttered mind
    2. Listening to good music/reading a good book/ watching an episode of a series during my boring commute!
    3. Exercise
    4. Bath and Book 🙂
    5. Watering my houseplants
    6. Eating delicious food out

I too have recently come off social media and i don’t think i will be returning in a hurry! I feel so much happier not comparing my life to others!
