Nice read. It is true,
If you’re not living in the present, you’re living in illusion. That seems to a be a pretty good reason to live in the present, doesn’t it? But how often are we worrying about things that have yet to come, how often do we beat ourselves up for mistakes that we’ve made, no matter how much time has passed? The answer is too much. Not only will living in the present have a dramatic effect on your emotional well-being, but it can also impact your physical health. It’s long been known that the amount of mental stress you carry can have a detrimental impact on your health. If you’re living in the present, you’re living in acceptance. You’re accepting life as it is now, not as how you wish it would have been. When you’re living in acceptance, you realize everything is complete as it is. You can forgive yourself for the mistakes you’ve made, and you can have peace in your heart knowing that everything that should happen will.June 20, 2013 at 8:06 am in reply to: How do I escape from the downward spiral of self doubt? #37225shamita guhaParticipantHello Adam and walsh . You need to loosen up guys.
There is a quote by Abraham Lincone
“People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
I agree with samir, Simplify your thoughts stop thinking too much..
shamita guhaParticipantNice story Samir! Thanks for sharing.
The end of the story was quite tragic. I liked it anyways..shamita guhaParticipantHi Ryan, you should let things go. Holding on to something that is not doing any good to you is similar to staying in a house that has caught fire. No matter how much you loved that house in the past but in present if you stay there it is going to burn in to ashes. You need to accept the present and will have to move on. I just now read an article ” Slave of conditioning” . http://upsohigh.com/the-slaves-of-conditioning/.
Check that if you want. The crux is free yourself of these attachments because this age and this time will not come back again. If you don’t let it go now some time down the line you are going to regret it a lot. I am telling this with experience. I wish I could have moved on bit early…Best of luck 🙂shamita guhaParticipantHi Nisha, I agree with this. Happiness is always to be created in present not to be chased in future. Happiness is all about journey not the destination. And if we could make others happy with our little contributions within our abilities what could be better than that.
I always feed beggars on my weekend visits to temples. The happiness in the face of those beggars , when they see the food ,gives me a great sense of satisfaction.
I often go for blood donation and all. These things kind of work as cure to all my negativity.I remember a movie “pay it forward”. Where if one person to some good to another person the person has to repay by doing good to three different persons. Wish if we all could implement this in our lives. In spite of all hatred and terrorism, world will become a better place to live
June 11, 2013 at 11:42 pm in reply to: How do you control your emotions when put in certain difficult situations? #36777shamita guhaParticipantHi Ray ! Anger and frustration are the outcome of unmet expectation. You need to change your expectation what you have with your mother. When your expectation will meet the action of your mother you wont feel angry or Unhappy . The reason being you already have expected her to behave in the way she really behaved.
You might have noticed that when you get angry with your mother the impact of the generated bad mood also effects other works you do subsequently. Like if you receive a phone call from your friend immediate after the fight with your mother. There is maximum possibility that you would say bad words to your friends too.
I have recently read a story for similar situation quite related to our everyday life. Check this out. It might be helpful to you too..shamita guhaParticipantThanks Samir, Sounds doable. But Hitesh has a point too. What if I leave up my dream of being a singer and start focusing on my Job. I might start liking it in future.
Little confused now..Can somebody help with third opinion.
Lori ! can you help with your opinion please. You definitely seems to be pursuing your passion. Is that worth ??shamita guhaParticipantNice lines..but not very practical.. I agree that, the people who lives for his passion are bound to succeed and lives a life of his/her dream.
I wanted to be a singer but end up being an engineer..Now I know why I feel frustrated all the time.I don’t enjoy my job and that makes my life hell.
But is it advisable to leave everything which you do all of a sudden?..I mean we all have responsibility I can not just leave my job and start working for my passion…me and family will starve to death…lol.. -
