I came across this quote from Abraham today, and it really got the wheels spinning:

You’ve trained yourself to face reality. You’ve trained yourself to tell the truth. You’ve trained yourself to tell it like it is. So in the beginning, these fantasies feel a little inappropriate, because it’s like you’re fooling yourself. Sometimes people will say, “Well, isn’t this just denial?” And we say, “We hope so!” We hope that you are denying the absence that you do not want. And we hope that you are embracing the presence of what you do. But somehow the idea of denial has become a dirty word to you; like it is virtuous to face the reality of the horror of your own lives. And we would be ignoring anything that did not please us. We would get our eyes on what feels good.

    — Abraham

I’m curious to hear from anyone who practices the Law of Attraction how they apply the above in their own lives – how do you balance “honoring your truth” with focusing on what you DO want?

When we are living from our higher self (love that is light within us) – “honoring our truth” holds a high vibration, and it will attract what you want. You won’t have to try focusing on what you want. There’s a difference between “denying” meaning not putting attention to, and “denying” meaning “avoiding” which doesn’t work when it comes from fear.

Hiding from or burying ‘what is’ can hold a vibration that is low when there’s resistance for what you don’t want (what you resist persists, what you befriend you will transcend) – it’s about “accepting what is”, which does not mean you have to like it, but surrendering allows you to move into a space of gratitude for whatever difficulty or unwanted situation you are experiencing because there’s a gift when you see it this way to grow into. This perspective will shift your energy to help you move to where you want to be.

I’m not sure this answers your question, but this is how the law of attraction has been working in my life…I notice, and let go of my ego’s fear based energy, follow my heart, live in a space of gratitude for what is, and I don’t need to visualize – I just feel into what I want, and magically things, circumstances, and people show up. Pretending is tough to do – I believe you need to be aligned with faith, and love towards yourself, and then hold the thoughts of what you want because you deserve all of what’s good, loving, and beautiful – we all do : )

If you are not in tune with your higher vibration then it is easy to apply your life energy to a truth that is not your truth. As the old saying goes “ be careful what you wish for” . You life ladder may be against the wrong wall.

    Hello Sabrina,

Carolyn has given you a very good reply.  What does ‘honoring your truth’ mean?  What is the truth of you?  I think that this is being true to the person that you are so who are you?  Who are you when you strip away all the conditioning we all suffer from?  What is the essence of you?  What do you want?  There are things we think we want (logical process) but if we put our hands on our hearts and ask the question “how does this feel”, we could come up with an entirely different answer.  If you want to be happy, follow your heart.

When dealing with the Law of Attraction, be aware that you may not get what you want immediately.  You may have to go through a few hurdles first.  You may have to give something up before something new can enter that space.

I hope I’ve given you something to think about.

“For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”

The law of attraction has roots in Alchemy which as part of its goal is the Alchemy Marriage .  Union of of opposites, the masculine and feminine, feeling and thinking, doing and being. That what we say and what we believe matching our actions.

The Alchemy riddle. As above so below, so below as a above. We are both influenced and in participation with Life.  The law of attraction occurs, I think, in the participation. Whit the law of attraction we work to become the change we hope to see/attract.

Easier said then done as the task requires being fully conscious of our true selves. Unresolved Repression, Projection, Shadow, Complexes and the problem of opposites need to be addressed or the likelihood is that we work against ourselves and at some level attract what remains unconscious.
