Hi there, so I decided to get back to watching DVDs via using a region free portable dvd player that my mother will give me next month. Yes, you might think it’s not too good to do this, but the reason why I decided to do this is because of three reasons:
First off being that I like to see a variety of movies and tv shows and entertainment and would like to collect physical media of shows that had their run even though people hadn’t always went back to watching it in a while when using a dvd, because back then not many people know about portable dvd players, or they did know but they didn’t have time to invest money on it until later on when they used it for during super long car trips and car rides. Back in the 2000s and 2010s they relied on older model TVs and a plug in DVD Player, before that stuff became obsolete. And by DVD media and entertainment, I do not just mean DVDs played in the USA or common American media DVDs, I meant DVDs played in multiple regions like Japan, Europe, Chinese, Spanish (Mexican, Latin), among other foreign languages, which is why I mentioned a “region free” portable dvd player.
Second reason, being that even though DVDs are becoming ‘obsolete’, technology is complicated and more of an advantage than before, but not all the time, because it’s advantages come with downsides, such as internet, Wi-Fi, and internet detox issues. We used our phones for so long in the Covid pandemic and beyond that we didn’t invest ourselves in mainly obsolete stuff. But while it is nearly useless to use DVDs, I believe that we still need some DVDs we like because streaming services and online/public media is subject to change and variate to certain scenes of a tv show or a movies’s episode scene, or certain shots and act bias towards certain changes. And collecting physical media, and my home has several TVs, but not even one of them are in my room. my family watches the news and I don’t have a tv in my room like my parents or younger brother (he uses it to play games but not watch tv), and I want some entertainment and detox from the internet to watch dvd media, sort of like a TV, though not really a TV, it’s still what I need to get entertained.
And third, I’m getting DVDs and a region free portable DVD Player because I want to watch DVDs and movies i enjoy, and I’m avoiding streaming services, because streaming services cost so much money for subscription and fees for each month. And because I haven’t gotten any DVDs to watch anything in a while (except for a dvd I eventually gave away that I got from school because I was so dumb thinking I couldn’t watch the movie because the TV in the living room had no DVD player).

But anyways that’s all three reasons why I’m getting a dvd player and watching DVDs. Any dvd movie/film/tv series recommendations?
the dvd player i will get is region free, but I cannot use Blu-ray DVDs. My favorite dvd genres (for recommendation) are 2D animation/cartoons, comedy, and family, and action/adventure movies. They can be any movie or tv series, as long as they aren’t terrible in your opinion or are tv shows that are hidden gems. I don’t want tv shows that are extremely gory, and I definitely don’t want horror movies either. I’m not attempting to please everyone too much, I’m just trying to find the movies that I would like to watch and what I can watch from there from the movie DVDs and tv show DVDs. And they can be DVDs and shows that had DVDs you watched back then.

And also I feel better, I used to write forums here, but I won’t write that often now, because I got in trouble with mom and school, and can’t do anything dangerous online. But now I cheered up, and I’m gonna draw and write in my notebook now about my daily life.

    Dear Ivy:

Good to read that you are feeling better, Ivy!

For recommendations, you might like older 2D animated series, classic family movies, or some hidden‑gem adventure cartoons.

Again, I’m glad you’re feeling better and finding comfort in drawing and writing 🙂

    Anita
