If God were to say to me today: “Come home!” without a backward glance I would leave all my obligations here – organization, buildings, plans, people – and hasten to obey Him. Running the world is His responsibility.

He is the Doer, not you or I.

Hi James I hear what you’re saying. For me, I suspect many will find the words God and He problematic as suggesting a ‘Noun’… which might not be a issue for those acquainted with Paramhansa Yogananda.

I might put it this way: if the Source, the reality from which everything arises and to which everything eventually returns, were to call me home, I’d go without hesitation. I wouldn’t cling to obligations or plans, because the unfolding of the world isn’t mine to manage. It’s carried by that greater Truth, the Source itself. My part is simply to listen and respond.

    Dear James:

A little study inspired by your thread:

Paramhansa Yogananda was a renowned Indian spiritual teacher (1893–1952), best known for bringing yoga and meditation to the West, and for his influential book “Autobiography of a Yogi”, a spiritual classic translated into more than 50 languages.

On changing the world, he said “Change yourself and you have done your part in changing the world.”

On success and failure: “The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success.”

On freedom: “Freedom means the power to act by soul guidance, not by the compulsions of desires and habits. Obeying the soul brings freedom; obeying the ego brings bondage.”

    * Soul= the true rue essence of who we are. it’s a fragment of God’s infinite consciousness, it’s individualized but never separate.

It is our eternal identity, distinct from the ego, thoughts, and physical body. Unlike the body (which dies) or the mind (which changes), the soul is timeless and indestructible.

It is inherently blissful, peaceful, and free.

About God: “He is not a man or a woman. He is that eternal consciousness which is present in everything.”

“God is the ocean of Spirit. We are little waves of that ocean.”.

    Hi James

Does it matter if we pass willingly or not? God’s will happens all the same? Does it matter what we believe? We are all part of God’s will, each one of us. Whether we believe it or not. ❤️

Hi Alessa, and again apologies for the mix-up in the other thread.

I really like the questions you’re raising, they’re ones I’ve wrestled with myself, so I’d love to share a few thoughts.

Does it matter if we pass willingly or not?
When I think of “God” as a verb, the word Flow comes to mind. We can resist what is, or we can lean into it with a kind of healthy detachment, engaged but not clinging to results as we would desire or will. To me, that’s why it matters: willingness helps us move with life instead of against it, and that can spare us a lot of unnecessary suffering.

God’s will happens all the same. Does it matter what we believe?
I’d say yes, but maybe not in the usual way. Krishnamurti once said, “The constant assertion of belief is an indication of fear.” That really struck me. Belief can bind and divide, and when we cling to it, it often comes from fear rather than freedom. So if we’re going to hold beliefs, they matter… but maybe the deeper invitation is to live without clinging to belief at all, to simply be present. I once asked myself what it would mean to live what I believe. Today I would answer: I’d stop “believing” and live — present – to life.

And as you said: We’re all part of God’s will, whether we believe it or not. We come from the same source, and we return to it… as a unfolding.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Dear Allessa,

Actually not. Because, even after enlightenment, there is still body and mind, limited.

Absolute freedom is only comes when physical death comes. Even mind is transcended, there is still bondage with body and mind.

Therefore, God is not all each one of us, God is beyond of beyond.

İf we are truly good, share and care for is with us. Otherwise, with physical death “me” will face with Truth and burn till not even ashes left. That’s where the metaphor hell comes from.

İf you are good (less ego) God shines trough you, if you are bad (evil=me) takes place.

What you said is common mistake of a saying that frequently comes up from people.

That’s only, after physical death, where there is no evil, good or word of god.

If God calls then what makes you believe that you have a choice of whether to go to him or not? I think Alessa is right in her thinking. If the true God calls then what makes one believe that there is a choice? If the maker of reality chooses you then how does one deny the will of God? One can not. When one returns to the source then one becomes the source.

And after physical death there is no desire so there is no good or evil. There is no freedom. All that you are is this mind in this body. All that you are, .. are these thoughts that have travelled thru this mind. This is what happens when one identifies with the thoughts. Freedom comes from dropping this mind. When one is in meditation and the mind is absolutely quiet, this is the enlightened mind. Emptiness is the liberation. Not emptiness as in nothing. But the emptiness as the whole. Much like in quantum mechanics. Everything is possible in the nothingness. Don’t let death find you before you experience this.

    Dear Thomas,

God’s willing is not forcing but it’s welcoming.

Door is always open, if you want to enter in.

Word of “empty mind” is not the empty mind.

Body and mind are one with universe, and out of control as sun and air.

That’s most beautiful way to live.

One does not choose one’s fate. What is destined will come to pass.
What you see as a door is a device of your own making. No one is making an empty mind.
That is not enlightenment. The awakened mind does not dwell upon the body. So when the body dies and decays,
the awakened mind does not die and decay.

When the wind blows and the flag moves, what is it that moves?
Is it the flag that moves?
Is it the wind that moves?
Or, is it the mind that moves?

Living out of control is the fastest way to die.

Real spirituality comes when one finds one’s spirit. Can you show me your spirit?
