I think social media is best for certain things. Like, I LOVE FaceBook for our town’s FB Group. You ask a question. BAM! Someone knows the answer. The friends from town are on there. It’s great!
Twitter ~ amazing for when you’re travelling and for emergencies or weather/traffic shout outs.
Yes, it’s a woman’s minefield. You have to be female to totally get how it’s an irritant to our uniquely socially wired brains. Buddha wouldn’t use FaceBook, just saying. I totally see him using Queron or some simple thing. HEY! (light bulb moment..) 😉

A girlfriend of mine kept questioning whenever other women would Like something – is this some of the wiring you’re talking about? And I’m not one to incite that sort of thing, I was committed, so that gets irritating for both people.
By the way the light just went on in the Tinybuddah room, who turned it on…? Lol

June 1, 2014 at 3:28 pm #57852InkyParticipantLOL!
This is how women are wired: “Who is that? What does she mean by that? What do they want? OMG, if She “Likes” something, so-and-so will know that they were at the wedding! How do I Hide comments so no one is offended and so they don’t know that they were at the wedding!?!? CRAP! Their mother-in-law’s cousin’s neighbor just Messaged me! They know! She knows! Everyone knows!!” (And they do).
Men: Log In. “Like”. Log off.
June 1, 2014 at 3:38 pm #57853InkyParticipantOH I forgot.
Big Blue, women “Liking”, Commenting, Posting, and Sharing on your Wall is a way of marking their territory.
I don’t think “Liking” is a big deal. Now, if they were Commenting, Posting and Sharing all the time ~ refer to my post above, but with another twist!! LOL
June 1, 2014 at 4:36 pm #57854Big blueParticipantInky-
I totally understand the *SIGH* now lol.
Thanks for those insights. I’ve been studying the female of the species for some time now – no, not like with binoculars from a Land Cruiser – and I continue to be mystified! 🙂
Big blue
June 1, 2014 at 5:12 pm #57856InkyParticipantAnd not only is your GF all, “Why is that woman Liking his posts?” but get this ~ Are you sitting down? ~
All the other women on your Friends list is wondering the same thing!!
And the one Liking? She knows exactly what she’s doing! She is either interested, or truly doesn’t care. But if she didn’t care, she would know that your GF knows that. But your GF doesn’t know that. So she’s interested. Believe it.
Because we are psychic receivers, and exquisitely sensitive. Has GF ever been wrong? Exactly. 😉
You see, Big blue ~
To a woman, everything is Rife with Meanings of Epic Proportions!!
LOLZ!!! 😀

June 1, 2014 at 7:29 pm #57885InkyParticipantOffice = Fish Bowl City!!
I dwell in Suburbia and seldom leave it. I am safe here. Well, except for the Lyme Disease. I only revisit the way the office was when I watch Mad Men on Netflix. 50 years later, human nature hasn’t changed.
June 1, 2014 at 7:38 pm #57886InkyParticipantEdit: Not that I was alive 50 years ago!
June 1, 2014 at 9:57 pm #57895Big blueParticipantWhat is thing thing you call Fish bowl??
Ok and was that last part an example of the wiring?
June 2, 2014 at 4:36 am #57901@Jasmine-3ParticipantThanks everyone.
Hey Inky and Big Blue – you guys are having a rather interesting and light hearted conversation here.
I do not feel right about interfering in this conversation but I have read posts from both of you previously and you both are making such positive progress in your lives. It feels sad to see you guys waste your good energy on FB or something similar. The more we engage in the gossip, know-how of others or activities, which lead us to judge someone or their lives, we create more negativity in our world. And who suffers in the process ? No one else but YOU (“ME”). Think about it. Not suggesting that we become hermits and forget about the socialising part of our existence but taking some time to consider how we are spending this positive energy may stop us in our paths of miseries before it is too late.
Cheers,
Jasmine
June 2, 2014 at 5:18 am #57905InkyParticipantYou are absolutely right!!
I used to go on every day. Then last year, every week. Now I go on when there’s a birthday, holiday or graduation to update everyone.
(See how I’m planning my final disappearance?? lol)
Eventually I will be Faded Out.
I don’t know if you’ve ever been on it, Jasmine, but it does pull you back in!! It’s like giving up cigarettes. (and I have!!)
A good website: The FaceBook Patch. LOL

June 2, 2014 at 2:10 pm #57927Big blueParticipantThanks and welcome to the discussion! 🙂
Yes – I unplugged FB, Twitter and Instagram a long time ago. Speaking of unplugging, I have not had a TV in 13 months. I use the web and radio even to keep up with sports. So, I have plenty of time for other experiences.
This site is a good experience by the way!
Inky – you might keep social media going if you can limit yourself like you described. I had trouble with that discipline so I shut it off.
Well – off to the gym! 🙂

June 2, 2014 at 3:23 pm #57933JasmineParticipantI’m honestly myself trying to wean myself off of facebook!
I had the app on my phone, and just deleted it, so that’s a first step. It’s toxic, let me tell you. I’ve been through internet addiction with other websites and that’s just what it is.
Don’t freak out or anything but it’s best to live life without thinking about fb.Best of luck!
Jasmine 🙂
June 2, 2014 at 9:17 pm #57971@Jasmine-3ParticipantHey Inky – good on you for giving up the cigs 🙂 Yes, have been on the FB, twitter and all types of social media that you can think of and am well aware of the addictive feeling. However, last 2 years without such distractions have been great. My relationships have improved big time and time is more wisely spent on things that need my effort. Best of all, my will power has grown and I am not a slave to the social media anymore 🙂
Thanks Big Blue. Without TV for 13 months – now that is a wow !!
Jasmine – good on you for taking the first step. Your life is worth so much more 🙂
Cheers,
J
