RobertaParticipantHi Mollie
I watched this video today on Jungian theory.
What you are describing has similar echoes to this video.
Best wishes

anitaParticipantGood Tuesday night, Mollie;
Part of the reason I slept so little last night was because Bogart, having an ear-cleaning and nail clipping apt at the vet today, was given tranquilizers to take last night AND an hour before the apt at 3 pm today (because beagles get very anxious when their nails get trimmed).
Anyway, last night, after I gave him the 2 pills, he looked and acted .. so weird, a dog high on drugs- the lost look in his eyes, the strange ways he moved his body. I was beside myself and worried how he’d make it through the night.
Next, after I submitted the post to you today, had to give him the 2 pills again, and again he acted so weird, and looked at me like he was so lost and confused. Next, at the vet, his ears were tested (and cleaned)- they’re infected with yeast and bacteria. So, I have to put drops in his ears ( will start tomorrow morning)
But NOW, he is finally off the effect of the tranquilizers, finally back to himself ( a relief!), although tired. Well, we’re both tired.
So, I don’t think I paid enough attention to your post today. I want to process it in my mind by tomorrow and respond further.
If you’re reading this before I get back to you, are you saying that you didn’t get a period for almost a year because you don’t eat enough or is it the STRESS (or both?)
Anita and FINALLY sober Bogart 🙂

anitaParticipantDear Mollie:
Yes, you shared about it before, first time may have been on Nov 27, 2025: “I exercise 5 times a week. I eat well but I worry about my weight (as before, I was underweight and I lost my periods)”.
So, it makes complete sense that most recently a doctor told you that Relative Energy Deficiency syndrome (RED-S) is “causing all sorts of problems such as fatigue, mood swings, anxiety etc… not had a period in just under a year.” (Oct 20, 2026).
Only that he didn’t say what’s causing the RED-S (RED-S wasn’t random, it didn’t just happen out of nowhere).
In my case, what led to me restricting food and weighing as low as 103 pounds (46.7 kg) at 5’5” (1.65 meters), was a need to C.O.N.T.R.O.L something (calories, my weight), because I felt I had no control over anything that mattered, no say about my own life.
(to be continued in the morning- about the above and about what else you shared today that I didn’t yet attend to)

anitaParticipantGood (late) Wed morning, Mollie 🙂
First, returning your 💚 from yesterday (can’t find a green leaf emoji using my phone)
I think it’s okay that you’re withdrawing from the world, from friends, and finding social commitments draining at this time.
I think that the habit of absorbing other people’s emotions and worries (caring too much) and maybe feeling responsible to make them feel better is what’s draining you..?
I mean, having one own emotions and managing those is a full time job, but taking on other people’s emotions, and feeling responsible to fix those would drain anyone!
I didn’t even know that I was doing that until recently!
Do you think the above is true to you?
I ask, but please know that it’s okay if you don’t wish to answer. I understand exhaustion.
For me, greater clarity makes it possible to access energy otherwise dormant or inaccessible.

MollieParticipantHello Anita,
Thank you for your detailed responses. I read all the way through and there were things in there that i did reflect upon.
This is currently how I feel (and all points are linked funnily enough)
* REDS was at its peak for me in 2024-2025 when I was a) over-exercising; b) under-nourishing – and I feel the diagnosis has helped, but I feel I’m coming out of it;
* Whilst I am coming out of it, I find retreating into the support and comfort of my parents to be what I currently yearn for, regardless of what I ‘should’ be doing – living my life in the city, using my gym membership ‘fully’;
* I find my dad to be a bit difficult sometimes because he is naturally the driver of that ‘one step better’ attitude;
* I have to accept that I am like my Dad in that I worry about things, maybe more than they are due;
* The OCD / decision-questioning / rumination is exhausting and frustrates me, though it is a LOT better than before;
* I have been in constant motion for the past few years and am ready to ‘stand still’ for a bit;
* I like my job enough to keep going with it, and have nice colleagues;
* I feel similar feelings to how one heals from a breakup – some days are much better than others, and I have lost confidence, but I am hoping it will come back in time.I just wanted to summarise these points to you.
I hope Bogart and you are okay, please give me an update. Thanks for listening again. Mollie 💚

anitaParticipantHello Mollie 🙂
Bogart too says: hello, Mollie! He’s no longer high on drugs, what a relief. Observing him high leads me to being more aggreable with your no-psychiatric drugs sentiment.
He receives antibiotic and anti- yeast drops into his ears every morning and every evening, and currently he’s lying on my right leg, lightly snoring and slightly blocking my blood flow.
What positive reflections, Mollie! Good to read that you’re coming out of the (2024-5 peaked) RED-S, that the OCD/ decision questioning/ ruminating is a LOT better than before, and that you like your job enough to keep going with it 💚
I didn’t know that it is your dad who has been the driver of that “one step better” attitude. I assumed it was your mother simply because my personal struggles have been with my mother (the 2 divorced by the time I was 6 and I have only one, minute long memory of living with a father).
Hmm.. the memory of you sharing that your dad has a little bit of a tummy, and it being somewhat disturbing to you, just popped into my mind..
Is it that he’s sort of failing his own one- step- better teaching that disturbed you? 🤔
You said it feels like healing from a breakup.. can you tell me more about what you are breaking up from? (if and when you feel like elaborating)?
And thank you for sharing your reflections tions with me 🫶

MollieParticipantHi Anita,
So glad to hear that Bogart is getting well, bless you that he’s lying on your leg and blocking your blood flow, I hope you’re not too uncomfortable but I know the feeling of not wanting to disturb a pet in their slumber, it’s almost an honour that they have chosen to rest in that way…My Dad. He is a good man. He has worked hard to put my brother and I through good education. He is kind and reliable and tries to initiate conversation about how we’re feeling. But, he is difficult. He has high expectations; is often emotionally turbulent (I remember being a bit scared when I was a child of his ‘moods’), and can easily criticise others, but cannot take it himself. He is not the reason why I’m in this ‘space’, but I’ve been reflecting – when I left to go to work this morning, I looked tired and a bit dishevelled, and I couldn’t shake the feeling of his being disappointed in me. Luckily, I had my mum who knows my Dad well and told me anecdotes of what my Dad says to her almost daily – small things – and she has learnt to shake it off. I have not learnt that art yet and find him tricky!
The point of comparing how I feel now to a break up. Back then, I remember almost being in a vacuum. I was studying in Paris and alone, and it was a beautiful thing, even though it was so difficult. My friends weren’t there; my family wasn’t there. I almost enjoyed dealing with my breakup alone (hence my withdrawing from the world slightly now?) Physically, I couldn’t eat; I’d wake up feeling anxious and would sleep between classes. I’d get bursts of anger, hurt, resentment, sadness, low self-trust and belief then motivation, pockets of joy (sometimes all in the same day). Mentally, this compares to how I feel now – I sometimes have 100 different weathers in a day – similarly to back then with the breakup. Does that make sense? (BTW – Physically now, I can eat (my appetite has increased if anything))
There is a saying: all shall be well, and all shall be well; and all manner of thing shall be well; and time is the greatest healer. My mum tells me to look back to 3 months ago and compare to today, rather than to yesterday. At the moment, I feel like a child who just wants her mother’s love, support and affection. 🤍🍃

MollieParticipantAnd the last thing – I don’t know what I am healing from. Perhaps it’s a mix of: sustained pressure in work and study/ people-pleasing?
What does it seem like to you?❤️🩹October 22, 2026 at 1:50 pm #461755
anitaParticipantHey, Mollie, just wanted to say that I’ll read and reply to your recent posts in the eve, it’s 1:50 pm here)
October 22, 2026 at 9:11 pm #461758
anitaParticipantHi Mollie 🙂
Yes, it’s an honor that Bogart trusts me and therefore is able to relax so close to me.
There was an incident long ago, he was in the kitchen with me and I almost bumped into him and fell, not seeing him in my way. I SCREAMED. There was a mix of fear and angerin that scream.
For a couple of weeks, Bogart was scared to be in the kitchen with me, acted Canine-PTSD (broke my heart). He didn’t trust being in the kitchen with me.
I made sure to not scream in his presence ever again.
As I just read about your dad having “moods” and being “emotionally turbulent” when you were growing up, and that it scared you, it made me think of Bogart being scared of me when I screamed.
Just like Bogart needs a calm, predictable me, children need calm, predictable parents.
Your mom able to ” shake off” things he tells her.. she wasn’t his child. It can be very difficult for a child (of any age) to shake off what a parent says.
I want to read the rest of your message tomorrow. I’m not focused enough now.
B Back 2 U tomorrow.
💚 Anita
