Hi everyone I am taking what feels like a risk in sharing a letter I’m writing to myself as a way of listening for whatever is quietly unfolding. I invite others to do the same.

I start by reposting two Poems that arose out of 2025

    Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang flow in and out of each other, ceaselessly, seamlessly. Their dance gives rise to all movement, all contrast, all becoming. Yet we rarely notice the canvas upon which their play unfolds: the stillness that allows motion, the silence from which sound arises.

It is easy to chase the changing, the light and dark, the thought and deed, believing that by following their paths we might arrive at the source. But the source is never reached through what comes from it. It is already here, before the doing and the thinking, the quiet canvas on which Yin and Yang paint their eternal circle.

    Winter’s Gift
The pathless path lies waiting, not ours to own or tame. The choiceless choice is given, a grace that leaves no name.
Virgin birth within the spirit, a dawn no shadow can bind. As Earth in winter slumbers, an inner light unwinds.
Become, the glass unclouded, the mirror without a face. Eyes that truly open, ears that deeply embrace.
Not seeking, nor surrender, no grasp, no guarded view. Transparent to transcendence, the Way is finding you.

A Letter to Myself for the new year
You don’t need to begin this year with resolutions or direction.
You don’t need to choose a path or decide who you will become.
You don’t need to hold anything together.

If anything, this year invites you to loosen your grip.

You’ve spent so much of your life chasing the movement of things, the light and dark, the insights and confusions, the rise and fall of inner weather. You believed that if you followed the changing currents closely enough, you might eventually reach the source and not be so afraid.

But these poems have been whispering something different: look toward the canvas, not the brushstrokes. Toward the stillness beneath the motion. Toward the silence beneath the words. The source is not reached by seeking. It is already here, before the doing and the thinking.

There is a “pathless path” opening in you, not a direction to walk, but a way of being walked.
A choiceless choice. A grace that doesn’t need your name attached to it.

This year, let yourself be the glass unclouded. The mirror without a face.
The one who doesn’t guard or grasp, but simply sees.

Not untouched. Not insulated. Not certain. Just open.
Open enough to be moved. Open enough to be undone…
Open enough to let life touch you without retreating into the illusion of control.

The Way is not something you follow. It is something that finds you when you stop trying to follow anything and being afraid.

So for 2026, offer yourself this:
Let the year be the canvas.
Let life paint what it will.
Meet it with the quiet recognition that you are,
    already inside the circle,
    already inside the stillness,
    already inside the gift.

The rest will unfold on its own…

Wishing everyone all the best in the New Year.

    Dear Peter:

Inspired by your words: “the source is never reached through what comes from it. It is already here, before the doing and the thinking, the quiet canvas… The Way is not something you follow. It is something that finds you when you stop trying to follow anything and being afraid.”-

My letter to myself for the new year: May I relax enough, let go enough so to- not reach or earn calm- but to let the calm that’s been there all along (before me and after me, nothing at all that’s dependent on my thoughts or efforts), reach me. Amen.
