Don’t get me wrong, I mean is not not to suffer with force of or suffering is bad or purpose of enlightenment is not suffering:

All I mean is why you still afraid or suffering burns you. Because, you are still attached to an identification, which can be god, infinite, strong, weak, religionist, atheist, non dualits, no selfist, father , mother, brother, sister, fundamentalist etc…

Only way to be free or really yourself is being free of any beliefs, ideas and experiences. Being completely naked, When there is no identity to protect, there is freedom.

    Only this is the way.

And this is mostly misunderstood by many people such as believing on no identity, which creates another identity. İt is surrendering all the identities, whatever left is that’s what it is.

You can’t name or explain as belief or experience, because explanation creates an another belief, because based on knowledge. When there are no words there, that is You, and You are freedom itself. Therefore, not finding freedom, Being / it.

    Hello James:

Good to read from you again. I suppose I used to feel threatened by your posts. Maybe I no longer need to.

Maybe I don’t need to be reactive anymore, and just let people be themselves, James123 included 🙂.

    Hi James

Nice to see you around again. 🩵

Interestingly, I’ve been researching this recently because I am not entirely sold on suffering being a matter of perspective. To a point, sure. But there is a point where suffering is suffering and one person can only take so much.

I found it interesting seeing suffering from a physical perspective. Basic human needs not being met causes physical suffering. Do some people learn to train their minds to overcome this. Sure. Brain damage and the physiological responses to chronic stress aren’t mind over matter. All we can really do is try to be gentle with ourselves and others, and not make things worse. Just my perspective. 🩵

In conventional thought, there is suffering from pain and from the lack of human needs being met. These things do not go away. Suffering is real and tangible. However, in unconventional thought, suffering comes from the identification of the self. That pain is part of the human condition but suffering comes from wishing the world was different and pain could be avoided. Like lamenting the sorrows again and again. So, what James says may be true but it doesn’t come from a place of deep understanding. Lacking this, it can not reach deep into the hearts of those who read his words. Sorry, this is just my perspective.

Note: It is good to see more activity on the forum again. Like having good neighbors.

    Hi

When we understand & accept the nature of reality in a broad sense ie birth sickness aging & death & that we & our oved ones do not have a free pass from this, there is a reduction in our personal suffering. So if you have a cold or toothache, you take the medicines or go to the dentist, there is no need for the woe is me, in fact you can be grateful that one has access to medicines & pain relief & have the heartfelt wish that all beings be free from pain, one could even be motivated further to help those in the same predicament say by donating to a local charity that offers dentistry to the homeless.

What if, if you guys realize that there is not a person in body? Have you ever investigate, where are you in body?

    Hi James:

I understand the attraction to what you’re pointing to in extreme non‑duality.

For some people, the idea that “there is not a person in the body” feels freeing — it removes the sense of being someone who carries trauma, shame, responsibility, or hurt. I can see why that perspective feels peaceful to you.

    Hi Anita,

Actually not freeing me, what We really are is freedom itself. Personality is just a mask / thought.

İf there is not a single thought arise, will there be a you?

    Dear Anita,

Therefore, maybe entire our trauma, anxiety, stress’s etc… Belongs to attachment to thoughts?

Even if thoughts arises and one doesn’t attach with them, will there be a past or future, therefore, trauma, stress and anxiety?

İmagine, if there is not an attachment with a single thought, what will be your positioning or you?

    Hi Dear James 🙂

You are talking about attachment to thoughts, releasing that attachment, loosening the hold the thoughts have on me-

I agree. I can’t stop thinking, but I can loosen my attachment to the thoughts, yes. Actually, I think I’ve been in the process of doing just that.

    Hi Roberta

I agree with you. Suffering can be lessened. I think the difficulty is when there are serious life altering changes. It can take time for people to adjust and make peace with it. In some cases, things can get very difficult. 🩵

I have a friend who is dying slowly and painfully. It is not easy for his wife either. She is taking care of him and her disabled adult son as well.

Another friend just took care of her father in law with dementia who finally passed away when he could no longer swallow. She has a severely disabled son she’s looking after, a young adult who is going through some serious issues.

Life is harder at some times than others. 🩵

    Hi Alessa
I agree it can be hard to watch a loved one go thru those changes & also have the exhaustion from looking after them, we can be so deep & close to the situation that there can be neither a lot of time or energy to look for guidance on reducing suffering, that it is why receiving wisdom teachings/contemplation & practicing meditation/mindfulness before these situations arrive, gives us a store house of tools & a good foundation to help us thru adverse times.
This is my personal view & experience, which has also been mirrored by many of my buddhist friends in a variety of circumstances.

It is a difficult situation when there are loved ones who are near death or dying. Can a person who is dying choose when and the method of their death? People in general value life. What kind of life is it when it burdens loved ones? Personally, have thought of times when the situation might require a decision that is kept out of the realm of what is possible. There was a doctor who assisted those who wished to end their suffering. He was prosecuted.

Oh, there are those who have severe depression and wish to end it. Those are not dying or suffering for a terminal disease. Would never consider that to be a choice for those with such afflictions as depression.

So, do we spend every minutes trying to find freedom? Or do we just live the best way we know how? I personally always believed that the journey was worth more than the destination.

    Dear Thomas,

One’s one realizes that they are literally so fragile till the point that nothing left, there will be no more control, therefore not attachment.

Our problem is even a molecule doesn’t work in the body, forget about being sad, getting lost in thinking, body can die in that second.

When we deeply acknowledge this, there will be no joy nor suffering, only freedom. And that’s what We really are.
