I suggest you to try taking a look at ‘The Healing Codes’.Dr. Alex Loyd developed a technique after his wife Tracey “Hope” Loyd had severe depression for several years and couldn’t find anything to cure it.

There are innumerable articles over the web that teaches about living in the present moment.
I simply did a web search on the text that you wrote “how I can live in the moment and be happy” and found several good articles. So you may want to do the same.
Also if you are into books then you can read “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle whose core teaching is about ‘Presence’.
There are several Eckhart Tolle videos on YouTube too.

Some times there may be nothing extra that is needed. Simply lying down and breathing is needed.

How to love God?
The answer is LOVE itself. It is complete innocence about any particular way or knowledge and loving Him like anything. God is not an effort, just talk to Him as if He is your lover, talk all stupid things, talk about anything or everything, talk from the core of your heart, talk as if you have found Him after a long search. Don’t do it only while praying…in fact I would say you need not even sit for praying.
Just love Him while dancing, while singing, while walking. Ask Him who loves more (He or you)…complain to Him about all the things which you don’t have…..cry before Him….be honest…I can guarantee you, you will surely feel Him near you, in unforeseen ways.
It is as simple as you love a person!Take care,

My experience is exactly the same as yours including the tendencies that you described about yourself, about others reaction to this and also about having a very short attention span.
I have been working on on what to do in such situations.
Until the instant that one gets irritated and finds it insulting, one is in deep presence, but has lost it later. Prior to that everything was fine, everything was just peaceful awareness. We have been drawn towards their storm, instead of remaining in our own peace.

This statement is enough to understand that you are comparing your current relationship with your ex.
“My problem is i cant help having thoughts about the ex and wanting to talk to her even though i know i now have a better relationship.”
This is understandable and you are not at fault. From what you have explained you still have the energetic cords (ties) of attachment with this person. These cords are invisible since they are at an energetic level. They are also called as psychic ties.

Yours and only yours hailee.Use your own words. Don’t use the computer for writing these. Do it with a notepad and pen.
Pour over all your feelings towards him. Don’t kick the feelings that you are missing him. Allow them to come and wash all over you. Soon the feelings will be dissolved in a good way and you will get back to your own work. Thoughts will keep coming. Let them come and in those situations get back to writing the letter or the techniques mentioned above and get back to your studying work.Take care,
