SWolfParticipantHi Good People of TinyBuddha,
I decided to start a fresh thread, a fresh chapter.
This time I want to focus more on rebuilding myself, self-worth, career, relationships, and learning to live with less fear and more trust in myself.August 21, 2026 at 9:17 pm #460539
SWolfParticipantHi @Tee
Hope you’re having a good weekend.
I think previous thread was deleted 10 days ago. So not sure about your reply.August 21, 2026 at 9:28 pm #460540
Thomas168ParticipantHello SereneWolf,
Are you religious or follow a spiritual path? Do you follow Buddhism or any other religion?
Just curious. I have found that belief in something helps one to get thru the rough times and uncertain times.
Rebuilding oneself requires break the old self down.
Usually, it should be a transformation from a weaker self to a stronger self.
But, one never knows how it will turn out.
Just keep trying. Wish you well.Tommy

anitaParticipantWelcome back, SereneWolf 🙂
I thought you might be coming back as SWolf 🙂
I think that what you need here, in tiny buddha, is less analysis and more emotional presence: someone (or someones) to truly listen.
I can’t think of a more worthy quest than to live with less fear and more trust in oneself.
I wonder, how does the fear feel in your body?
And moments of trust in yourself, how do those feel?

anitaParticipantOne more thing, SereneWolf:
I want to say that I see you’re starting fresh, and I respect that. Sometimes clearing the slate makes it easier to hear yourself without all the old noise.
I’m glad you’re here.

RobertaParticipantHi Serene Wolf
Wishing you all the best on your journey into learning to surf the waves of uncertainty so that you can traverse the choppy waters of life rather than getting wiped out.
Looking forward to hearing more from you

anitaParticipantHi again, SereneWolf:
It’s okay if you don’t feel like answering my 2 questions from my first reply, or if you’re not in the mood for answering any questions at all 🙂
I’d like to share with you my own experience with starting a new chapter, while re-experiencing the same old, same old uncertainties.
Every time I decided on starting a new chapter ( starting as a teenager), I believed that it was possible for me to get rid of the feelings that kept me stuck in the old chapter.
Believing that felt euphoric for a while, but the old feelings returned and I found myself back in the old chapter, more and more discouraged 😔
What finally made it possible for me to move on to a new chapter has been to comit myself not to (impossible) erfection but to (possible) learning.
The last 3 words in your original post are “trust in myself.”-
I used to be consumed with self- doubt (old chapter). But not anymore.
Every single day I repeat the same words (a mantra, I think it is), the ending of it says exactly this:
“I redirect self- doubt and distrust in my own perceptions, evaluations, emotions and worth=> to trust in my own perceptions, evaluations, emotions and worth-
“Not because I’m perfect or could ever be, but because I’m learning.”
If any of this speaks to you, please let me know.

TeeParticipantHi SereneWolf,
it’s great to see that you’re starting a new chapter, where you intend to live with more trust in yourself, and less fear, both in your relationships and your career.
Fear has been a major issue for me, and I’m still struggling with it… so unfortunately cannot give you tried and true tips on how to overcome it. But, I’ve just read very wise words on another thread, where a member said “fear disappears after u take the leap, not the other way around, u cant expect the situations to be ideal in order to do something because they will never be, we make them”.
Boy, is this true! Taking the leap (of faith), and then managing whatever obstacle or problem arises along the way, is I guess the way to go. Because fear will always be present, the question is only whether we let it paralyze us or not. So yeah, a big note to myself too (thank you Confused from the other thread 🙂 ).
Dear SereneWolf, wishing you many small steps of faith (if “leap” sounds too scary), in everyday decisions.
I’d love to hear more about your next chapter, or anything else you might want to share.

SWolfParticipantHola Tee,
Hope you’re doing well.Fear has been a major issue for me, and I’m still struggling with it… so unfortunately, I cannot give you tried-and-true tips on how to overcome it. But I’ve just read some very wise words on another thread, where a member said, “Fear disappears after you take the leap, not the other way around. Yes, well said, Tee. I definitely agree, and even though we know it’s true, at the moment we get that freeze and overwhelm and anxiety. For a recent example, I had a very challenging work project. In the beginning, I was quite anxious, but as soon as I started taking small steps and figuring things out, my confidence started to grow, and I was like, “Oooh yes, I finally did it.”
About another thing, I’m thinking about CBT again for anxiety and uncertainty kind of stuff. Like I already mentioned, I started medication, but I changed my psychiatrist and now she has decreased the medication even further. She also mentioned something really good today: that in life, if you want to grow, there’s always going to be more uncertainty and challenges. So with every challenge, are you going to feel overwhelmed and anxious and make that the norm? Or have enough awareness beforehand to say, “It’s okay, I trust myself. I can take on anything”?
I haven’t been meditating and journaling that regularly, so I’ve gotta pick that up again.

SWolfParticipantHi Anita,
I can’t think of a more worthy quest than to live with less fear and more trust in oneself.
I wonder, how does the fear feel in your body?
Would you elaborate or give some examples? I can say mainly tense muscles and sweating.
And moments of trust in yourself, how do those feel?
As recently, like I mentioned, when I finished this big project, suddenly I felt a wave like, “See, you were doubting for nothing. You finally put in so much work and did it.” Definitely feels good about myself. I do feel I had quite a lot of those moments but surprisingly I don’t remember much
What finally made it possible for me to move on to a new chapter has been to comit myself not to (impossible) perfection but to (possible) learning.
Yes that’s what I’m trying like have that satisfaction for small win first instead of feeling like Okay this is done you got it but what about that other thing now? so like chasing one after another improvement loop that’s never ending.

anitaParticipantSo glad to read back from you, SWolf 🙂

AlessaParticipantHi SWolf
I love that goal. 🩵
Wow you’re doing great with all of the changes recently! Congratulations on lowering your medication. I’m glad your projects are going well too. 👏
One day, I would like to get to the point where I am calm even when things are difficult around me. Like the eye of a storm. I don’t know how feasible that is, but it’s a nice idea. 😊
I have faith that you’ll figure everything out in time. You’ve always had a good head on your shoulders.
In my experience, fear can get easier to deal with, but it’s a long process with ups and downs depending on what is going on in your life. The way I think of it is imagining all the things you feel safe and comfortable with as a circle. Then there are the things that you’re not comfortable with outside of that. The goal is to increase the size of your safe circle and repeating the process can make you feel more capable in doing so again. I don’t know if that makes sense at all?
It’s good to hear that you’re thinking of taking up meditation and journaling again. Practicing emotional regulation skills seems like a very important part of the process. 🩵
Looking forward to reading your updates! 🩵

anitaParticipantHey SWolf:
I asked: “How does fear feel in your body?” You answered: “mainly tense muscles and sweating”-
That’s your brain running away from something, or toward something, running and sweating- before the body even moves.
The mind/ brain- it easily runs 100 km per hour while the body didn’t even move a centimeter.
Think of a 2-hour movie, 10 or 50, or a 100-years-action take place in 2 hours.
My healing has been about removing myself from the big-screen movie theater section of my mind (running 100 km an hour and getting nowhere fast), and placing myself in the real-life here-and-now, just this moment, this little moment, right now.
Trusting myself has been about trusting myself as a here-and-now human being, not a failed movie star who failed to move Fast and win Big.
You ended your last post with: “like chasing one after another improvement loop that’s never ending.”-
– “chasing” => muscles tense, sweating.
This brings to mind a tattoo I saw on a young woman’s arm recently (in the dog park I frequent), it says (I paraphrase, you can look it up, it’s something an Australian poet said):
‘What if I Fail?’ And the answer: ‘But my darling, what if you Fly?’
Thing is, it doesn’t have to be movie-like, huge Fail or Fly. It can be a bit of a fail, a bit of a fly- nothing to get tense about, nothing to be sweating about.
The humility of being a human being.
What says SWolf?
