If your path demands you to walk through hell, walk as though you own the place.

You don’t have a right to the cards you believe you should have been dealt. You have an obligation to play the hell out of the ones you’re holding.

Some of the kindest souls I know have lived in a world that was not so kind to them. Some of the best human beings I know have been through so much at the hands of others, and they still love deeply, they still care. Sometimes, it’s the people who have been hurt the most who refuse to be hardened in this world, because they would never want to make another person feel the same way they have felt. If that isn’t something to be in awe of, I don’t know what is.

A shoutout to everyone who is trying right now… Trying to do the right thing. Trying to stay open. Trying to keep going. Trying to hold on. Trying to let go. Trying to find their flow. Trying to stay afloat. Trying to meet each new day. Trying to find their balance. Trying to love themselves. Trying new things and new ways. I see you. I’m there too. We’re in this together.

Someone once asked me how I hold my head up so high after all I’ve been through. I said it’s because no matter what, I am a survivor, not a victim.

The biggest lesson for me this year has been ‘just keep going.’ Lost everything? Just keep going. Don’t know what you’re doing? Just keep going. $0.88 in the bank? Just keep going. People played you? Just keep going. No obstacle has been able to crush me. I keep going.

We can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it.

You gotta look for the good in the bad, the happy in the sad, the gain in your pain, and what makes you grateful not hateful.

Perhaps the most important step in habit changing is to first accept yourself for who you are, flaws and all. Those imperfections are what make us human. Instead of talking yourself down, try treating yourself as you would a loved one. Be forgiving, and realize that wherever you are right now, it’s okay. You’re more likely to succeed in making changes if they’re coming from a place of self-respect rather than self-hatred.

It wasn’t the trauma that made you strong, kinder, and more compassionate. It’s how you handled it. That credit is yours.

In a society that has you counting money, pounds, calories, and steps, be a rebel and count your blessings instead.

Optimist: Someone who figures that taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it’s a cha-cha.

I’ve learned that you can keep going long after you think you can’t.

In this life we are all just walking up the mountain, and we can sing as we climb or we can complain about our sore feet. Whichever we choose, we still gotta do the hike. I decided a long time ago singing made a lot more sense.

Even now, as broken as you may feel, you are still so strong. There’s something to be said for how you hold yourself together and keep moving, even though you feel like shattering. Don’t stop. This is your healing. It doesn’t have to be pretty, or graceful. You just have to keep going.

Confidence isn’t thinking you’re better than anyone else, it’s realizing that you have no reason to compare yourself to anyone else.

When things change inside you, things change around you.

You either get bitter or you get better. You either take what’s been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person or you allow it to tear you down. The choice does not belong to fate, it belongs to you.

You may not be able to control every situation and its outcome, but you can control how you deal with it.

When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control how you respond to what’s happening. That’s where your power is.
