Like a sandcastle, all is temporary. Build it, tend it, enjoy it. And when the time comes, let it go.

Thoughts fuel emotions. If you don’t like what you’re feeling, step back and example what you’re thinking. Pain is inevitable, but you’ll suffer a lot less if you disengage from your thoughts.

Be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people.

Let go of control. You’ll feel instant relief.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Let it be.

A thought is harmless unless we believe it. It’s not our thoughts, but our attachment to our thoughts, that causes suffering. Attaching to a thought means believing that it’s true, without inquiring. A belief is a thought that we’ve been attaching to, often for years.

Sitting silently beside a friend who is hurting may be the best gift we can give.

You can never know how many lives you’ve touched, so just know it’s far more than you think. Even the tiniest acts of love, kindness, and compassion can have a massive ripple effect. You have made the world a better place, even if it doesn’t seem like.

Fill your life with experiences, not thing. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.

Never think you are weak if you cry. Every tear is replaced with wisdom and strength.

Remember the time you thought you never could survive? You did it, and you can do it again.

You don’t need anyone’s affection or approval in order to be good enough. When someone rejects or abandons or judges you, it isn’t actually about you. It’s about them and their own insecurities, limitations, and needs, and you don’t have to internalize that. Your worth isn’t contingent upon other people’s acceptance of you—it’s something inherent.

Don’t underestimate yourself by comparing yourself with others. It’s our differences that make us unique and beautiful.

People are who they are. You can’t force someone to be who you want them to be. If you choose to stay, do it because you can accept them, not because you think you can change them.

Ships don’t sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside you and weigh you down.

Note to self: Beating yourself up for your flaws and mistakes won’t make you perfect, and you don’t have to be. Learn, forgive yourself, and remember: We all struggle; it’s just part of being human.

Your face will change. Your body will change. The only kind of beauty that endures is the kind that lives in your heart.

There are no wrong turns, only unexpected paths.

Whatever you’re feeling, it will eventually pass. You won’t feel sad forever. At some point, you will feel happy again. You won’t feel anxious forever. In time, you will feel calm again. You don’t have to fight your feelings or feel guilty for having them. You just have to accept them and be good to yourself while you ride this out. Resisting your emotions and shaming yourself will only cause you more pain, and you don’t deserve that. You deserve your own love, acceptance, and compassion.
