As long as you feel pain, you’re still alive. As long as you make mistakes, you’re still human. And as long as you keep trying, there’s still hope.

Hate, it has caused a lot of problems in the world, but has not solved one yet.

Today might not be perfect, but it’s a perfect day to be happy.

Look around you. Appreciate what you have. Nothing will be the same in a year.

I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me.

You know you’re on the right track when you become uninterested in looking back.

You are allowed to feel messed up and inside out. It doesn’t mean you’re defective—it just means you’re human.

If you know someone who’s depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn’t a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather. Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they’re going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It’s hard to be a friend to someone who’s depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do.

Waiting around for someone else to make you happy is the best way to be sad.

Do not dwell on the past. Your history cannot be erased, but your future has yet to be written, so make the most of what is going to happen instead of worrying about what you cannot change.

Never let anyone disturb your composure, deter your accomplishment, or destroy your happiness.

Five things you can’t control: What other people think of you. What other people do. What happens around you. The outcome of your efforts. The passage of time. So let go and focus on what you can control—what you do today.

A great attitude becomes a great mood. A great mood becomes a great day. A great day becomes a great year. A great year becomes a great life.

Always, always trust your first gut instincts. If you feel something’s wrong, it usually is.

Blood makes you related. Loyalty makes you family.

People change for two main reasons: either their minds have been opened or their hearts have been broken.

Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.

A lot of problems in the world would disappear if we talked to each other instead of about each other.

Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs. The ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile, and who love you no matter what.

Never underestimate the power of good morning texts, apologies, and random compliments.
